Walkers news: May 31 -- Quad City 2, St. Louis 0

Record: 26-20, 3rd, 3 GB Des Moines
Quad City's Franklin Perez may have worked six shutout innings, but it was what he did with his bat which really made him proud following a 2-0 win over St. Louis at Fenway Park (1970).
Perez drove in the game's only runs with a two-out, two-run homer off St. Louis starting pitcher Aaron Nola in the bottom of the fifth inning.
The homer was the third of his career, but first of the season.
On the mound, Perez allowed just four hits while striking out two and walking one.
The bullpen handled the rest -- Joe Kelly, J.D. Hammer and Jimmy Herget -- all taking care of an inning apiece.

Walkers news: Arroyo activiated from injured lift; Holt placed on waivers

The St. Louis River Walkers have activated infielder Christian Arroyo from the injured list after he has been out since May 24 with a hyperextended elbow.
In 35 games in 2023, Arroyo has batted .311 with two RBIs.
Veteran infielder Brock Holt has been placed on waivers with the intention of sending him to AAA Memphis.
Holt got into 16 games while with the Walkers, batting .222 with an RBI.
