I use this string:

wond|rookie|all-|breaker|hero|peak

I should actually verify it gets all the cards we can use!

Our boys are playing tired this year. Maybe we need to have some off-season training!

Green Lake (3) at Annandale (0): The Cowboys came to town and lassoed the Atom Smashers as they swept the three-game series

• In game 1, Green Lake rode good pitching to a 5-2 victory
• Game two was a 6-5 Cowboys squeaker
• Bill Madlock (.322/.364/.472) went 3-4 with 2 RBI and Kirby Puckett hit a sacrifice fly in the top of the 9th that scored the winning run in the 3-2 ballgame

Had to do a lot of yard work today, so I just got my first chance to look at PT. Five teams are still in the race for the Our League crown. Sanguine has finished at .567. Transylvania and Waffletown are playing right now, with the Impalers taking the opener.


Here's how it looks:

The New York Patriots will be playing in bronze next season. With a record of 100-47, the Patriots have already clinched the NC East in Iron .151. Likely NC Best Pitcher award winner Rick Reed leads the staff with 23 wins and a 2.83 ERA. An area of concern for the newly crowned division champions is that they are only 9-5 since the start of play today, and perhaps have taken their foot off the gas, knowing promotion might virtually be assured.

Maybe next season we'll actually get paired up with some "Our League" guys.

The Hatchets and the Asylum Keepers ended the Our League 2023 season at .583, but since they did not face each other, the deadlock was decided by tiebreaker #2, best run differential in Our League.play. Harlem showed its dominance with a +75 over 60 games, while Asylum could only manage a +29 across 36 games. Stephensville and Cooper face each other in the only six remaining games, but neither can catch the Hatchets.

Transylvania turned a tight race into an easy ramble to the Our League title in S287 by sweeping Waffletown and taking two of three from Terra Incognita. Ozark clawed the Cowboys, sweeping a home series to end Green Lake's pennant hopes.

There are three teams, but Battery Point was in the NL and did not play the other two teams in the AL. All games between all participants are complete:

Seattle Pilots: 7-0
Wheatland Jets 0-7
Battery Point Energizer Bunnies: 0-0

It appears that the Bunnies will cruise to the playoffs as the Champion of the NC Central Division (they are 6 1/2 games ahead of the second place team with 8 games left to play --- interestingly, it appears likely that both the second and third place team in the NC Central will be wild card teams). At this point, it is highly likely that Wheatland will get demoted after this season, Seattle is currently 3 1/2 games behind the second wild card spot in the AL with 8 games left to play --- possible that they will make the playoffs, but don't bet the farm on it.

The Cowboys blew it in Our League, but we've made the playoffs in Silver .287. The division race is going down to the wire with a team called the Bossier Parish Cavaliers. They have 4 Diamonds, 6 Silvers, and the rest Golds. The Cowboys have a more modest mix of Golds, Silvers, and Bronzes. We have 5 games left and are a 1/2 game back.

Seems the team I put the biggest hex on, with my earlier post, was my own Rustlers. They lead with 10 games left, seven against the second place team, against whom they entered 9-4. They proceeded to drop into a tie going into the final game against that team. In that game, Joey Jay gave up a two-run homer in the 9th, and then surrendered a sac fly (?!) in the 10th to complete the fold by a 3-2 score. They probably weren't going to do much, though, as the division "winner" finished at 82-80, but then, the '73 Mets ended up in the World Series after going 82-79. And, Willie Mays was safe at home.


Our League has five play-off teams in B222. Unfortunately, Palolo and Asylum play each other in the divisional round, so there will not be an all Our League Conference round. There could be three-of-four, though, with Shasta on the other side of the draw from the winner of the Harlem-Salem Wild Card game.


That could also be the case in S287, as Transylvania and Waffletown would not play until the Conference series. Green Lake softened the sting of their Our League fade by winning their division.


Here's hoping for two Our League World Series face-offs.

The unfortunate state of the AH in PT 19 has forced all but four of the Our League teams in PT 19 to abandon the compliance standards. It seems likely that there will not be a quorum particularly often going forward, so this might be the final update of the all time standings. The Philadelphia Patriots, the only team to play in all 8 Our League seasons, showed themselves to be the class of the league by a wide margin. They won three titles, and the only PT19 Our League World Series match-up. Port Ruppert also won three crowns. Aceldama had one crown, and the other was taken by the Aina Haina Parakeets in their lone season.


I will still drop by for an hour or so on Sunday mornings to pull some packs, to help me maintain my discipline in 2.0. It is getting harder, though, as the emotional attachment to my players grows. If anything interesting, from a league history standpoint, comes up, I'll post it.
