New Online League.. how to load?

Do the files have to be downloaded manually the first time to get started? I know once you have the file you can download the latest file from within the game.

The commish should have a "starter" file. That's about as much as I know.

How do you do that? I have downloaded this file 100 times and it won't show up on the in game menu. What am I doing wrong?

You download the league file outside of the game.
It should be a zipped file with a .tar or ,gz extention. You will need to unzip the file. You need an archiving program to do this.
I use 7zip. It is no charge and works very well. Just Google 7 zip download and you will find it. Because it is freeware/shareware it often coms with bloatware (extra programs that are not needed). Watch the installation process and uncheck any programs you do not want.
Once 7zip, or another archive program in installed, right click the league file and select "extract here".
You will have some folders and 11-14 .dat files. These files are the bare bone version of the league.
You need to put the in (Windows default file path):
C:/User/You/My Documents/OOTP/OOTP18/Saved Games
In Saved games you need a league folder. It will end with the file extension .lg. There is usually one in the archived league file you unzipped. If not make one. It has to be the correct spelling with the correct capitalization. If you do not know check with your Commissioner.
Once this is done open OOTP. Select Load League and your league should be on the list.

Good luck,
Tom (LP)

OOTP 18 uses plain old ZIP files, so it's a bit simpler for Windows users.
