Russian First Names

Although uncommonly used in the game I like authenticity. Russian names seem to be dominated by about 10 main names (which if you use the nameset that comes with the game Alexander would be greatly under used).

So I ventured through KHL rosters, russian premier league rosters, lists of notable russian scientists, inventors, etc. and just about every sport's roster that they have a national team for (thank you russia wikipedia!!) and created this first name set.

For the most part names are the western romanization and names that were originally in the database that better fit other ethnic backgrounds (or a girl name i found in the original database for russia) were purged.

And a very special thank you to St. Petersburg's own Ninotchka for going over the list for me and double checking my work!

A last name set will follow given time. (this took 6 hours)

Last name work has begun and is making nice progress due to some wonderful resources out there (which will aid me in other name sets coming soon). I work a 12 hour shift tomorrow but Sunday should see a nice chunk of work done toward getting the last name list finished.

UPDATE:

Russian last names (which will greatly add in number to the original DB and rectify the chance of drawing each name) should be finished by the weekend.

The russian first name set will be given a final edit by that time as well.

In May, French first and last name sets (using official French name data) will begin.

the process has been daunting. It's nearly finished but i was nowhere near as quick as i was hoping.
