The goings-on in P454 were so expertly recapped by JasonC23's post right before this one, so I don't have much to add.
I would add, however, that the Manhattan Momos appear to be trying to give away the #1 seed in their conference by playing everyone out of position. Manhattan was playing over .800 ball and has gone 9-13 in September (including being swept by yours truly). I noticed they're playing Willie Mays at 3B, Shoeless Joe at catcher, Luke Appling in LF, Vlad The Younger in CF, and Hammerin' Hank at SS. Not sure what the protocol is when a team is at 117 wins and also clearly "tanking" but whatever. The only real points of interest for the Frogs are: (1) can they hold off Arkport for the #1 WC? (2) will Ed Walsh's historic season (26-3, 2.67 ERA, 1 no-hitter and almost a 2nd) be good enough to win him PoY #2?

I've been gone all day, and last night thought I had a 9 game lead, and then once again I'm looking at a September wilt, went 13-10 for the month. Definitely a close race, but at least I'm 12-7 against Madrid this year, but still hoping to eke out both the division and the conference, and I'll worry a little less if it's Madrid coming out of the WC game. (Because I really don't want to go that route myself! Then again, they are playing great ball down the stretch, and I'm definitely not...I may want to re-think it!) |

The Frogs, having taken 2 of 3 at Huntley (and thereby winning the season series 10-9 over the Red Raiders), are up 2 over the Wolves with 3 games left to play. Go Frogs!

3 100-win teams in my division
So it's totally possible to win 100 games & have to win 4 out of 6 (1/1, 3/5) or better against OTHER 100-win teams to get to the conference championship. Good luck to me.

Critters smashed their division by 14 games, 105-57 in total, with Big Walt bringing home an ERA title with a 19-8 season and a 2.33 ERA. They also had another *huge* game with a 4k achievement (and 4,300 total) for an 11-run comeback.
Rebels snuck into a Wild Card in a weak division (16 games under .500) in their Gold League, finishing 85-77 after being mediocre all season long. D.J. LeMahieu batted .340 with 11 homers, winning his second batting title. We will put up Chris Sale for the Wild Card Game and close our eyes in anticipation of loud knocks. It comes as no surprise that the Accountants ended up relegated. Nothing worked. They showed zero tools, zero skills, and had zero luck. The result was a grim 54-108 battering and relegation to Diamond with the safe zone a whopping ten games away. Their run differential was a blistering -257.

Just a weekly check in on my teams while i wait for tournaments...
Paragon City Heroes 92-70 were going well but blew up in the last two months losing the division to the Bel Air Barleys by 14 but getting the WC spot for the 3rd straight year. Jimmie Foxx had a real down year (.695 OPS) hopefully he can bounce back. Colavito was once again the main man hitting .289 with 26 HR and 100 RBI and 5.1 WAR which is down a bit from his previous 2 seasons, i suspect this was a very pitcher heavy league. Maddux rebounded to 19-10 3.46 era, with Mordecai Brown having a down year (13-13 3.64 era) Hippo Vaughn was the stopper and put in a good years work (7-5, 21 Sv 2.36 ERA) Bad News Bulldogs managed their traditional best of the rest spot with an 81-81 record, Eugenio Suarez was the home run champion with 34. Aaron, Duffy and Larkin all had solid seasons around 4 WAR. Paul Derringer won 20 games and Dave Stieb 16 and Pedro Martinez proved himself adept at stopper again with a 3rd straight all star appearance in that role. The team really needs a 4th/5th starter to have any hope of improving, but funds will probably prevent that at present Neuman Furshlugginers in their first season in perfect were the second worst team, Wilbur Wood went from a perennial 20 game winner to a 24 game loser. My 4th team, Manic Mondays, is currently in iron after a 113 win season, and put up a 114 win season, using live players (and variations such as future star Tatis who was in my starter pack) they had a terrific offensive season, wonder how far they can get before slowing down, but they are very much in positive PP generation already, really cheap team that does well at lower tiers

The Frogs had been playing lacklustre (do you like my British spelling?) baseball until catching fire in July/August (43-9). It was a surge that David Petraeus would be proud of. The surge saw the Frogs leap from out of playoff contention to having a firm grasp on the top wild card spot. The team faded in September/October (14-13), but did enough overall (102-60) to outrun the Arkport Wolves (99-63). So, the Frogs will host the Wolves and turn to 100 Tom Seaver for the right to face Huntley in the Division Series.
Ed Walsh should win PoY even though he stumbled to a 5.00 ERA in September. Walsh paced the conference in wins (26), IP (247), and WHIP (1.01). The 26-4 record is quite gaudy, as is his 7.5 WAR and 203:29 K:BB ratio. Packs have run both hot and cold for me this week, but a couple of useful cards were finally unearthed. As for the cold part, I ran through 110 packs last night and obtained exactly one diamond--of course it was a LIVE Felipe Vazquez. If it wasn't for also pulling a 100 Scherzer (I think it's my 6th, weird how often I get that singular perfect card) and a 100 deGrom, I'd have been pretty ticked. As for the useful card part, 100 Cal Ripken Jr. joined the fold in late June and a 99 Yogi Berra just popped out of a pack tonight. This might mean the end of 69 Mike LaValliere's run because 99 Berra is probably my most desired catcher card to pull outside of Josh Gibson. Having a 99 Berra/SE Pudge Rodriguez tandem should be pretty strong. I oughta total up how many packs I've opened because I know it's a lot.

The Raccoons had their best season ever finishing with 129 W and an RDiff of +516. We started out September very poorly (losing 5 straight and 8 of 11 at one point), then finished with 10 straight to capture the top spot in the conference. Should be quite the challenge to make it to the WS this year and if we do, our likely opponent will be Singapore... No problem!
Season highlights: Broke our W record of 124. Broke our RDiff record of +485. Keefe set a team record with 29 W (old record was 26). Had 8 all-stars for the 1st time. Had 3 guys with 20+ game hitting streaks. Scored over 1000 runs (1007) for the 2nd time. Had 27 SHOs, 8 more than Singapore and our all-time high. Boggs hit .362 in 66 games for us. If Utica wins the WC round, he'll be playing his former team from earlier this season. Good luck to everyone in the playoffs!

Yeah, I forget, but logo just looks like an Asian girl, & I noticed they played at something along the lines of "Costco Grand Theft"... OK I found the old name it is Kyary Pamyupamyurin. ?She is some kind of Japanese idol. So it is probably a picture of her. He didn't update when he changed to Morgan Freemans. Btw, there were two decidedly different pictures...presumably of her.

The YakAnglers went 108-54 to win the division over the Burlington Bees by 12 games. The Bees put up a helluva fight but we slowly pulled away in the 2nd half. It'll be a tough playoff as the Bees, the Encinitas Inferno (97 wins), Big Spring Storm (87 wins) and the Drummond Destroyers (89 wins) all gave the YakAnglers trouble all season.
The Marathoners went 75-87, dropping their final 9 games and last 11 of 12. It's the same old song, 24th in runs scored but 10th in average. ERA was 8th and DEF Eff. was 9th in the league. Our OBP was 14th in the conference. The Miners finished 86-76, 4 games out of the wild card. It was also their first winning season in Perfect. And just like the Marathoners, they were 26th in runs scored and 5th in average. ERA was 4th, and DEF Eff was 5th.

My Bees won their division in Perfect League, winning 90 games.
My Rangers had a winning record in Perfect League, and the Barnstormers finished a few games under .500 in PL, so not too bad a season. |

And it will be the Fighting Frogs vs the Red Raiders in the Division Series! The Red Raiders are finalizing their pitching staff now for the series, but it will, for sure, be an epic Ed Walsh vs Ed Walsh battle in game 1.

Rebs squeeze through Oklahoma, 4-2 in 11 innings (and after blowing a 2-0 lead), reaching the LDS. Including PT 19, I have three teams in the running at this point.

Well, one game into the epic Fighting Frogs/Red Raiders clash, and this Division Series is already a classic. Huntley takes the early lead on a double by Appling; the Frogs strike back with a fielder's choice by Pete Rose and a triple by SUPER Ichiro; newly acquired Frog Yogi Berra puts them ahead with a solo shot; Red Raiders' Berra and Yaz drive in the tying runs in the bottom of the 7th; and Gehrig's solo shot leading off the 8th off John Smoltz wins it for the Red Raiders!
Game 2 pits La Crosse's Christy Mathewson against Huntley's Roger Clemens...

You too! Glad to see Austin come out on top of the Cy Young vs Cy Young matchup in game 1, but game 2, ugh, that's tough. Go get 'em in RealMadrid!

Before the Division Series with the Fighting Frogs got underway, I took a look at the pitching matchups and how my guys did against their guys, and vice versa. I figured we would split the first 2 games in Huntley, with the Frogs' Ed Walsh, off a historic season, besting the Red Raiders' Walsh in game 1, but then Huntley's Roger Clemens, who dominated the Frogs in the regular season, doing it again to earn the split in Huntley.
So, naturally... The baseball playoffs: nobody knows nothin'. The crucial game 3 at La Crosse will feature Huntley's 99 Walter Johnson vs the Fighting Frogs' Tom Seaver. Who knows what will happen? I certainly don't...

In the P402 only one team between Mega whales can win the division between Jersey or Winter Springs and that was Jersey. Surprisingly Winter Springs lost the wildcard. in the other conference, Oilers won 134 games but are currently down 2-1 to an 82-80 wild card team (52 game difference).
