Historical sims: sons playing before fathers?

Has anyone ever run a historical sim (real players, randomly distributed) in which a real life MLB father and son played, but in the sim, the son came into the majors first and then the father a generation or more later?

For example, Ken Griffey Jr plays in the 1890s and 1900s while Ken Griffey Sr plays in the 1940s and 1950s?

I've run some sims and have checked for the careers of Barry/Bobby Bonds or the Griffeys but haven't had that happen yet.

Anyone ever run a sim and noticed that a father's career started much later than the son's?

I wonder if it's somehow built in that a "Jr" can't play before a "Sr" ?

Are you playing with random debut? All bets are off if you are. The game only identifies the players by the number beside them in the Master.csv file. It doesn't know who's who. It just uses a random number generator (speculation on my part here) and dumps whoever comes up into the draft or free agent pile. It doesn't really care if it's biologically impossible for a Jr to come before a Sr. All it knows is that Jr's number has been called and then 50 years later Sr's number gets called. Incidentally, I had Griffey Jr. and Griffey Sr. in the inaugural draft of my (now) 52 year random debut historical. They were both heading into their age 23 seasons. It's weird to look at, but I pushed the random button, so I've gotta live with it I guess.

I think **** like this is part of the fun of rand db leagues. The Griffeys becoming twins instead of father/son is a great example.

It makes me smile to think of parents having twins and naming the first born Ken Sr. and the second Ken Jr.

George Foreman named all his sons "George" - so stranger things have happened!

Re: Random Debut ... I think i do have that setting... under "Game settings / League settings / Historical settings" , the box "use random rookies from all eras" is checked, if that's the setting you're referring to. There have been a number of very good father/son combos who have played in MLB... I think i'll just check for some of them after i've played a few "generations" worth of seasons, just to see what happens. OOTP is a great game, but so far i've only scratched the surface of what it can do

Well, i just finished the 1949 season in my sim, and Griffey Jr. has appeared... Griffey Sr. has not yet made the majors.

Griffey Jr. made his debut with the Phillies; had a whale of a rookie season..

149 G 120 R 31 HR 115 RBI .307 BA. 105 W .407 OBP.
OPS is .933.

He won ROY, Gold Glove and Silver Slugger awards, plus he was MVP.

After two years in the league, he's won 2 HR titles (31 HR each year)

He also got a raise from $5K/year as a rookie to $39K

I see a bright future for this young man, if he keeps his head on straight.

I ended up simming all the way from 1871 to 2070, just to see what 200 years of history would look like.

Griffey Jr's numbers:

1948-1962 1,431 G 1,293 hits 4,735 AB .273 avg. OBP was .370 hit 286 HR drove in 910 scored 773. He was injured quite a bit. Won a couple of season awards early on for hitting and fielding but had seasons of 93, 55, 24, 60 and 18 games played. Rookie age was 26, retired at 40.

Griffy Sr. came up in 2016 at age 22. Played until age 40 (2034 season). Finished with 297 HR 1,186 RBI had 2,443 hits in 8,318 AB hit .294 w/ .352 OBP

Barry Bonds also came up before Bobby:

Barry 1984 (age 22) through 2006. 3,364 Hits, 785 HRs 2,355 RBI. walked 2,398 times, hit .318 with a .445 OBP Played 2,932 games. Moved around a lot, came up with Cleveland, then played for Cubs, Dodgers, White Sox, GIants, Expos and played the final 10 seasons in Atlanta.

Barry was a ROY, a 4x MVP 16x all star and won five world series titles. Elected to HOF in 2012 98.4% of ballots

Bobby came up in 2022 at age 21. Played 2,071 games, hit .277 (OBP .367) 2,165 hits and 603 HRs...he hit 58 HRs as a rookie, career high was 67; also hit 55, 51, 50, 48...

A ROY and 8x all star, Bobby was inducted into the HOF in 2042 (86.5% of ballots). He never won a world series title. Played mostly for Yankees (first 6 seaons) and Red Sox (last 5 seasons).
