Negro League Nameset
This is a set of names put together based on roughly 4,000 African-Americans who played in the Negro Leagues between 1900 and 1950. The primary resources were James A. Riley's "The Biographical Encyclopedia of the Negro Baseball Leagues", baseball-reference.com, and seamheads.com.
I designed these to be used with Questdog's awesome nameset, so they replace the US (Historical) names. (I would actually recommend using the last names from the 1870 portion of QD's set, and the first names from here.) --edit-- Something I forgot to add: the first names file includes many nicknames, if that's what a player was primarily known by, but I left 3 out: Satchel, Cool Papa, and Double-Duty. That's because I felt like they were very unique, and so famous and identified with those real-life guys that finding them on a fictional player (Satchel Smith?) would be kinda immersion-breaking. But obviously you can put them back in if you want them. Last edited by DB930; 04-12-2015 at 05:09 AM. |
