Roster set issues (2023 MLB / MiLB / KBO) go here!

Hey guys,

we want to constantly improve the real roster set, so please post issues you run across here once the game is released.

Please do not post issues with players being on wrong rosters, minor league levels, on or not on the 40-man rosters, lineups, pitching staff spots. Yhe AI sets these up and there is nothing we can do to force player X to be used in a certain predefined way.

Also, do not post stuff like "Trout just hit .220 in my sim, this cannot be right." or "Why has X better ratings than Y?". Posts like these will be ignored! Major league player ratings are based on ZiPS projections, not opinion.

Please, please before you make any comments in this thread that touch on ratings or rankings, turn off scouting. If you're commenting when you still have scouting on, it's inaccurate, confusing and a waste of both our time and your own.

One other thing to note, we're not able to set the specific 26-man and 40-man rosters to exactly match real life.

All we can do here is adjust ratings to 'encourage' the AI to make the 'right' choices as much as possible.

We'll take a couple more passes through the league to do this within the next couple weeks, so hopefully this will get a bit more accurate each time.

Please post here:
- Errors in contracts
- Issues with players being in the wrong organization
- Vastly wrong player ratings (disable scouting first so you see the real ratings), for example a Double-A scrub having allstar-calibre ratings

Be aware, some things are still a work in progress and not yet completed. For instance:
- Updated coaching staffs in some leagues
- Updated 2023 rosters for Indy and KBO leagues who have not yet set their full rosters or only just done so
- Some MLB prospect ratings, especially those toward the 40-60 range on their team lists
- Ratings for some newly signed IAFA's
- Also, please be aware that some Korean players have been randomized. This is due to legal requirements in Korea.

He'll get an MLB deal once you advance to opening day. Pre-arb guys don't really technically have MLB contracts until they actually make the team. Not that that's a question in his case, but the principle still holds.

Ceddanne Rafaela in the Red Sox's system should have his defense ratings buffed across the board. He's widely regarded as being elite defensively both in the infield and outfield. Keith Law noted he's an "70 - 80 defender in center" and MLB Pipeline ranked him as a 70. Soxprospects.com notes he has the potential to be elite at every position except 1B and catcher.

Yeah, good point. I do think we're pretty low on his defense. We'll fix that up.

I do see unsigned personnel in the db - just not showing up in reports.

Cool ok I didn't think of looking at transactions. Played a couple of games out, my Tigers almost got no hit! Now I have to leave for work.. sigh

Not sure if this is the right section but when I got to Hall of Fame voting in December 2023, Scott Rolen was not already in the HOF and was on the ballot. When starting a new game, he should already be in. Not sure if there is anything else wonky but that's the one thing I noticed.

We may have missed updating the HOF file or importing it if we did update. I'll add this to the list of stuff to check on.

Couple of minor Red Sox system issues.

Michael Gettys is still in there as an outfielder; he converted to pitcher in 2021, and posted a 0.48 ERA last season in AA Portland. The game doesn't have any pitches, velocity, et al. in there for him — he's got a low-to-mid-90s fastball, a high-70s curveball, and a sliderish/slurve thing.

Also noticed that Sox prospect Philip Sikes seems to have had his ratings wildly juiced (and he is nearly fully developed). Caught my eye in Commissioner Mode — he's a nice mid-minors depth guy, but not a serious prospect by any account.

Couple LA Dodger items:

Blake Treinen should have a $7,000,000 Team Option for 2024.

Jake Pilarski was hitting high 90s consistently with his fastball in yesterday's Spring Training game. DB seems to have him in the low 90s. Listed on the AZ Rookie League team for LA.

Scott Kingery should have 2024 AND 2025 as team options (trust me, we Phillies fans are on top of this one).
