Historical Newbie
I've been with OOTP since version 2 but never really entertained historical leagues. With the advent of OOTP2006 , I thought I'd give it a go.
I created a historical league, imported players from 1901 and set the option to import rookies without drafting, so they should go to their correct teams. I simmed a few seasons and everything appears to be working ok. However, I've got to 1920 and there is no sign of Babe Ruth in the league. Anyone know why that is? Do I have to alter the team names in my leage as they changed historically? If so, where can I find that sort of information?

Team names shouldn't matter. The team ID - DET, CIN, etc is what determines where a player goes. If you started in 1901 you would have needed to change Milwaukee and Baltimore after the first two years. With Ruth you shold have seen him show up in Boston as a pitcher. Check around for a George Ruth who's pitching. Some roster sets have him as a pitcher (George Ruth) and hitter (Babe Ruth) with the hitter showing up later in New York. If you didn't change Baltimore to NY he'd have no place to go.
Check Tiger Fan's thread stuck at the top of this page for how, when and where to change cities, etc. |
