Expansion Inquiry
Is there a way I can do a MLB quickstart in 2012 and add two expansion teams and control one of the expansion teams? And be apart of the expansion draft?

My guess is no.
I think you can only do this (if you want a schedule generated) in the preseason. So it looks like you will have to wait until next year. I am not entirely certain, however, if there is a work-around.

ya i didnt think so, that would be a cool feature to be added in ootp14, the ability to quickstart with an expansion team and draft. Altho I already am looking forward to a Marlins franchise in ootp14

You can but it does require a small work around so you dont lock up your game.
1) First you have to go to the schedule settings and change it to something like April 1st (getting rid of the Japan game dates is key). 2) Generate a new schedule, this now moves opening day to April 1st (or whatever day you pick) 3) Now use the expand league function and add your new teams, the expansion draft will happen before opening day and your good to go with your 32+ team MLB If you don't alter the schedule and have the draft before opening day then you will get stuck with the "XX team has an illegal number of players (0)" message over and over again and you cant advance the date to the expansion draft. Also for some reason, when you do this, the AI will always generate a team full of scrubs for your RL team (only for RL tho, maybe someone else knows why). But you can release them all because I have yet to see anyone above 1* so they are all pretty useless and will retire without causing too much disruption |

Correct, because you need opening day changed so you can expand before opening day. The regenerated schedule wont matter anyways cause it will regenerate again after you expand. But getting the japan dates out of the schedule is the key

I added expansion teams in the quickstart for a new game a few months ago. You do have to change Opening Day in order to fit the expansion draft in prior to the season, and regenerate the schedule. This means the Japan games and the real life schedules go away and are replaced by a fictional template, but that was no big deal to me.

Ok, expansion draft done...I have a full 25 man roster and 25 man AAA team, 10 people in AA and thats it...can I auto fill my minors (with real players preferably) somehow?...I'm not seeing it as I browse around....

I believe that you'll have a certain number of ghost players filling out those rosters.

I think giving the AI control of minor league signings, promotions etc (under Manager Options) could work but I never tried. There are enough free agent scrubs around, but signing enough for all your minor league teams up to AA is quite a bit of work if you do it manually.
