Tournaments
MS-DOS-esque names - 5 (neutral) -- interesting
All the formats have their charms to me...so another 5 on that, maybe slightly more best of 5 or more in relation to other types. One thing I like about there being a lot of tournaments even some that don't fill up, is there always seems to be a number of potential tournaments to sign up for at least. Overall I just enjoy them as a use for my much bigger than a single team collection of cards... I agree, I like off days in best-of-x rounds.

All the formats just run together to me and I don't even bother looking. I just find the one closest to filling at the right card tier and join.

The concept is great. Execution is very good, if still sorta unfriendly to negotiate and find your info. I often can't find the results on the first page.
Mostly it's frustrating to get beaten by teams full of players I can't afford to buy, in part because of the ridonculous prices on the AH. I read these posts by guys who have won dozens of times. I work online, and I've been playing Silver/Bronze/1500 cap as much as I can get into tourneys with my three teams. I've won twice since Tuesday. I'm FTP, i've been playing @ 12 wks, I got a win in DoD Gold 16 on Tue, a 3rd/4th on Wed, and that's it. I examine the winners and they have a lot of the same prohibitively priced AH hitters. (I looked online for non-live pitchers for Silver last night & fit 71-79 on one page, so let's just say the pickings can get slim for pitching on AH because of this.) Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems like the guys who can at least compete on Gold/Diamond/Open leagues have decided to dominate the lowest leagues instead. So, I like it. But if Tourneys are just going to be Perfect Level transcribed down, I'm not sure how very enjoyable that is. I give it a 10 for concept, 8 for execution, and 5 in practice. |
