Doc Cramer
Existing Tigers file shows Cramer, left, with the Athletics. Attached is a 1944 image of Cramer with the Tigers.

1946 Detroit Tigers cap
For decades it was possible to pinpoint a yearly date for Tigers images by subtle differences in the cap design. Attached left is the Tigers cap for 1946. For example, examine the cap below against the 1945 cap, next to it right. Note the position of the 2 central horizontal lines. On the 46 cap the 2 central lines are much closer together such that the gap between them is less than the gap between the top and bottom line and its nearest central line. On the 45 cap the 2 central lines are about as near to each other as they are to the respective top and bottom line.
Now compare the 46 cap to the 44 cap, to the right of the 45 cap. Again examine the location of the 2 central horizontal lines within the cap. In the 44 version of the cap the 2 middle horizontal lines are much closer to the top and bottom horizontal lines. Whereas in the 1946 cap the two central lines are much closer to each other and further apart from the top and bottom horizonatal lines. So in summary 46 cap big gap between top/bottom and central lines, 45 cap equal gap between top/bottom and central lines, 44 cap small gap between top/bottom and big gap between central lines. Then examine the 43 cap. This shows that the left vertical line does not join up with the horizontal line beneath it leaving a gap. Last edited by UKBaseballfan; 07-03-2019 at 04:46 AM. |
