My 3D ballpark models

I am going to start this to keep a running list of my 3D park models.

I started learning to use sketchup for the purposes of building parks for OOTP not too long ago. My talents are a work in progress, but I am getting better.

I have found that it is easier to take many of the real parks that people more talented than have created and shared on the google 3d warehouse and retrofit them for OOTP.

My parks will be available to be downloaded here:

https://www.mediafire.com/folder/q3g.../3D_park_files

To install, simply unzip each file to your "Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 15\ballparks\models" directory and then choose the .obj file in the in game stadium editor and you are on your way.

Each stadium should already have the grid configured, but may require camera angles to be set. This also can be done in the in-game editor

I will update my mediafire site with new stadiums as I have time to do them

Enjoy!

Stadiums done:

Not sure what I'm doing wrong.....I put the Camden file in the ballpark/models folder...selected the camden2.obj as the ballpark picture file.....

I start a game, tick the 3d and I crash. Of course I crash when I hit the 3D Model button in the Edit Ballpark screen....maybe I just have a 3D issue??

Well. It works fine for me on two different laptops, and I have one other here verified so it sounds to me like it could be a 3D issue on your end

I took the liberty of making a wiki page

OOTP Community Wiki | silvam14 3D ballpark models

and gallery

OOTP Community Wiki | silvam14's park files

I'll try and keep up, but the wiki gallery is drag and drop up to 32mb & editing a wikipage is no harder than a forum post.

creating, on the other hand is a little bit (but not a whole lot) more complex. so I am starting as many pages as I can

edit: added a link on the wiki page back to this thread, forgot it the first time.

I installed Camden Yards and it looks good, but man, adjusting the camera is a royal pain.

I'm too old to start learning this stuff so I need to leave it to modders.

What I've been wondering is how hard is it to make a stadium and how long does each one take. Specifically, how will that affect modders producing older parks. Like deadball old types for example. Now, I know it's hard to find exactly how they looked. Doesn't matter. As long as they look oldtime, and no lights) with oldtime buildings in the background. That's what I use for many of the pics now. So what does everybody think? If it's done by July (and all else looks good), I'm liable to buy this year. Otherwise I'll wait. Right now it's leaning pretty far toward waiting based on what I've seen.

Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong. I download the park, for example Fenway, and load it in the editor. Set my camera position which is not an easy process, as I would like a more home plate press box view. I can't seem to tilt the outfield down enough but I find a compromise and save the camera view as "home plate". Enter a game and the view is the original straight down from the sky and zoomed out which defeats the 3D aspect somewhat.
I can't find any way in game to adjust it.

If this is the way it's going to be I'll stick with the old photos

I was having the same issue, but I think I finally got it to stay the way I wanted. Once you get the camera angle set, click the Save button in the middle of the page.

I did and it asks for a name for the new camera angle which I did. Do I need to go back to "global" and save again?

The navigation controls are kind of wonky if you ask me. I hope they get a little more refined as time goes on.

Also, it would be neat of the game had preset camera angles based on fixed points from the grid. For example, if the game knows where home plate is, then it should be able to know some different viewing angles of the field

Sounds like you may be clicking the Save Cam button. I had better luck clicking the Save button, which is just slightly above and to the left.

I agree with Silvam, the system is wonky. I don't see any way to recall any of the previous camera settings I set. I guess for now, I'll just set the cam where I want, click Save, and then just use that as the one and only view.

I'm sure it will get better, but right now the 3D option is more of a novelty than a useable feature.

I have a Mac. I can not get the 3D stadiums to work. I set the Camden park up and went to play a game and the game closed when I set all the game settings and I did turn off sound then went to start the game.

My 3D ballpark models

Just an update. I have completed Modfiying Anaheim Stadium to work with OOTP and I am almost done with AT&T Park as well. I'll try to get then uploaded tonight.

Other stadiums I am working on converting are Petco park, Skydome, Busch Stadium, and Dodger Stadium. Not sure when those will be ready.

Again, i did not create these modern stadiums. I am just taking them from the warehouse and adding infields to them and fixing import errors. So I am not taking credit for the fine work others have started

My 3D ballpark models

Added: Anaheim Stadium, Dodger Stadium, AT&T Park. They can be found using the link in the first post

For AT&T park, I used goalieump's field and textures and placed it in the model I found on the warehouse.

Anaheim and dodger stadium were also pulled. From the warehouse and cleaned up for OOTP.
