Welcome Makakilo!

I'm doing some research for a book I hope to write someday about boxing at the turn of the 20th century. I came across a great article on the history of boxing in Hawaii called - Western Boxing in Hawaii: The Bootleg Era 1893-1929. I have it in PDF format, but it is too big to post here. If you, Vistaman or Christopher (or anyone, for that matter) wishes a copy, shoot me your email addy via PM and I will send it to you. It's 18 pages, and a very interesting read.

The Journal of Combative Sport ran that piece. They have quite a few articles that might interest you both.

Thanks Chris, I pulled that article while doing a search through online newspapers and periodicals and totally forgot where it came from.

I can scan all of them, I just thought I might be spending time scanning in photos that ya'll already have.

And thanks for the article, I had read that before but it was so long ago I enjoyed reading it again.

Well, back to it.

Three more ...

... files for your pics: Mark Fernandez, who started out well, but slipped to trialhorse status as he moved up in weight; plus "opponent" Bernabe Fernandez and flash-in-the-pan Larry Fuentes ... all in the feather to lightweight range.
