How do I have a league with only the top 1,000 players of all-time?
Hi all. I just bought OOTP 20 and have spent hours trying to determine if it's possible to create a new league that consists of the top 1,000 historical and modern players? As an example: Team 1 may 'draft' or be assigned Babe Ruth, then Team 2 may get Ty Cobb, and Team 3 Mike Trout. When Team 1's turn comes back around, Rickey Henderson gets added to Babe Ruth, Ken Griffey Jr gets added to Team 2, and Sandy Koufax gets added to Team 3... can this be done? Preferably all of them in their primes. Again, these are the only players I want in the league. I don't want random or fictional players at all. Thanks.

Can't answer your question, but I'm interested in the answer. I want something similar: a MLB league with all-time great players from every era in an inuagural draft against the computer.

Agreed. I can do the work to put together my Top 1,000 Players, but have no idea how to import them and use them and ONLY them.
It would be awesome to see Babe Ruth and Mike Trout in the same league. |

Top 1,000...by who's measure? There's a post roaming about the forums from long in the past about how to create a txt file with player names to set up auto importing, I think. Search in the MOD's for it, because I truly don't remember.

figure out who your top 1000 are, and create a text file that imports them into the draft pool at the peak years of their careers. you probably would need to delete any/all players the game creates when your make your league so it's not contaminated. How you keep any new players from coming into future years - i am not certain, since i've never tried it. You may need to delete them each year as your game progresses. it's possible to do what you want, but a lot of work to get it running and maintain.

A simple text file with their respective id's a comma, then the year... See the attached sample file I used from a old PCL rookie import...

check out this thread - from OOTP 19 - but it's got most of the info you need.
https://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boa...ight=text+file you can find the play's ID from the MASTER.csv file in your data folder. Sometimes the ones on BBref and Laham's aren't the ones used by the game. those in the .csv file are correct and will import. this way you can pick the year the player imports. hope this helps. best of luck. let us know how it's progressing or if you need more info, we'll try to be of assistance.

I'm new to the game and trying to do something like what you want to do. From what I found out so far, you have to create a Fictional League, wipe out fictional players in the Draftee/FA pool. This gives you a blank league to work on. There is a way to one by one add a player in the game itself. If you use Baseball Reference.com, you can get the players ID and decide on the right year (whatever that is). It's tedious but that's all I've tried. There is the txt file import you could set up and do but I haven't tried that. That's probably the way to go since you'll always have a file to fall back on from the start but I'm guessing if you manually add the players, once done, you can export and save a file w/ those names and info on it. Good luck and let me know what you find out.

your stats folder has a .csv file for majors and minors. in those .csv file are the player ids for every player in the game. you can use that to help create your text file.

that's too easy... let me throw my 2 cent sin... LOL kidding -- no novella in this post... this post only!
another settign of interest if you want to have a full MiL system -- you can prevent fictional players from reaching the MLB, and they can fill your mil system, making it functional. you could use 'ghost players' in mil too.... |

Having the same problem, I've used BBRef, filtered on WAR, oWar, ERA+, eliminated duplicate players and now have a nice pool of players to play an all-time league with... But I can't import them via Steam. Posted this elsewhere but,
"Trying to import some all-time great players into a fictional league for Inaugural Draft. I have tried as CSV and TXT file, w/ spaces after commas and w/o spaces. The game (I am running on Steam) keeps telling me it worked but the players do not appear. Can someone please help!" |

I've created a two team league (all time AL and NL all star team)...the attached file is what I used to import the players (it also assigns them to the correct teams).
Also, this is a thread that helped me set this fictional league up... if you take a look at post #6, maybe that will help. http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...d.php?t=248682 |
