While I have not tested this rigorously, my anecdotal observation is that on my macbook pro....games started through "New standard game" sim much faster than those started through a saved Quickstart. In the former, I don't get that pause others have noted before the date shows up to start simming. In the latter, there is a weird delay of many seconds....there are some parts of a year. In all cases, the speed is slow though relative to the PC.

Anyone experiencing the slow simming issues, please go to File -> Settings and check the "Number of Helper Threads" setting. If you had the beta version, that option may have gotten disabled when upgrading to the main release. I would recommend setting it back to the recommended value and that should significantly improve sim speeds.

I'm going to have to look more in to this later, but my initial impression of the new patch is that this issue is back, and any sort of multi-day sim pushes cpu% usage up to 150%, which caused my new macbook pro to crash...

Yep, this issue was fixed in the first pre-release patch but appears to be worse again in the first post-release patch...

Ok, so the speed issue in the new patch appears to be the game is SLOWER when using "recommended threads" (4 in my case) then when threading is disabled. And not by a small amount either! Why would this be the case?
