I managed Montreal in historical mode during 2008/2009 (their 100th season) and I didn't get achievement. I thought they don't work in historical mode, but I got "upset" one in this same save.

The achievement probably needs to be described a little better - it's for managing a team in their 100th season since last winning a championship, or in their 100th year in the league without winning any championships. So, for Montreal, the first possible season is 2092-93. Toronto and St. Louis are probably the "easiest" to get it with, 2067-68 for the Blues or 2066-67 for the Leafs.
