Cardinals release Steve Kline
Following his latest ugly outing, coming into a 2-2 game in the bottom of the ninth against the Reds, he proceded to walk Joey Votto on four pitches and give up a game-winning double to Jay Bruce, the Cardinals have released supposed left-handed specialist Steve Kline.
Veteran lefty J.C. Romero has been called up from AAA Chandler. |

Cardinals notes: Mabry to DL
First baseman/outfielder John Mabry was injured making a play in left field during a 16-1 win over the Dodgers on Aug. 12.
He will be placed on the 10-day disabled list and could miss up to four weeks with shoulder tendinitis that has him listed as day-to-day. Frank Thomas will come up from AAA Memphis to lend depth at first base. |
