2B vs. SS

Hi,

I got 2 great defensive middle infielders, but I'm struggling to decide which one should be at SS and which one at 2B:

Player #1:

Range: 91
Error: 100
Arm: 72
DP: 79

Player #2:

Range: 92
Error: 82
Arm: 90
DP: 93

I'm leaning towards Player #2 at SS because of his better arm, plus very slight range advantage.

But I also heard primary skill for SS is range and 2B is Turn DP? How much impact does arm have at SS? I feel like it should have a pretty big impact, but do we know?

Who would you put at 2B and SS?

I would put player 1 at 2nd and player 2 at SS. I'm sure I'm wrong, though. I personally always go with range and arm at SS, with error and DP the higher factors for 2B.

It's probably fairly close, but I agree with your assessment - #2 is the SS due to higher arm rating. #1 will make a great 2B. Looks like a solid pair to me.

Player 2 seems quite a bit stronger for SS. Yeah, he is going to make a few more errors then player 1, but will also be making a lot of plays that player 1 simply couldn't make.

Player 2 SS, Player 1 2B, this is the best scenario going by those ratings.

Player 1 would be like a 108/93 at 2B/SS.
Player 2 would be 109/95.

So, basically shouldn't really matter too much. I'd probably keep player 2 at SS since I always like the better fielder there, even if he's only a couple points better.

Seems like everyone agrees. It will be Player 1 at 2B and Player 2 at SS!

Interestingly enough player 1 is an SS (Ozzie Smith) and player 2 is a 2B (Lonny Frey). They both got some learning to do, but after a 1-6 start I'm not too bothered with the extra errors retraining will cause.

Thanks guys!
