Online League
Hey there
Can someone give me the basics of a "online league". Do owners just log in and play? Is there a requirement that one(or all) owners upload information? Can users on Windows and Mac computers play in the same league? Im new to all of this. Thanks! |

How it works is such; The owners will download the league file from the Commish. This will be done after every sim to keep the league up to date. Once that's done, make your changes and Export the team file. That's pretty much all that's required from the GM's. And yes, users on Win and MAC can play in the same league. I'm in an FHM2 league and it's a tonne of fun. We're going to upgrade to FHM5 if you're interested. PM if you are. Cheers! |

Hey that does give me a clearer picture.
How complicated is it to explore the team file? My second question I realize can probably differ from league to league, but typically when a Commish "sim's" the league, how long is the "sim" for? I'm just trying to get a sense if people are uploading things on a daily basis or how that all works. |

I zip the entire <LEAGUE_NAME>.lg file - which is found in the "saved_games" folder and upload to an FTP for the GM's to download. They'll then unzip that folder into their 'saved_games' folder and then load the application. A couple of things; 1. Make sure the GM's exit the program first before they import the new .lg folder to 'saved_games'. 2. Make sure you save the .lg folder as a backup before you sim, just in case you mess anything up. I've learned this the hard way, lol. As far as simming schedule, the league I'm in, we sim every other day. And each sim is worth 8 in-game days. Not sure what others do, but this works for us and we can get thru an entire season in about 2 months. Hope that helps! |

Your internet provider may even include FTP hosting as part of your service - check that first. But if you google FTP hosting, you may find some for better prices. |
