Baserunning really irks me

The biggest gripe with OOTP 20 is the lack of aggressive baserunning, or at least the lack of allowing your baserunners to be aggressive.
I have some players with better than decent speed on my team and a bench coach who encourages aggression on the bases.
Whatever settings I have to lead toward aggressive baserunning, I have bumped up a notch or two.

And time and time again, my team runs like a bunch of plodders.
Now I know, the animation should be taken with a pound of salt.
But too many times I have had fast runners on second base with two outs, there is a single to the outfield and the runners stops at third.
Why, can't the game at least give me the option of sending the runner and if he is out, it's on me.
My last game, tied it in the bottom of the 10th two outs with a runner on second with a speed rating of 75.
Single to left field, he stops -- as always seems to happen -- at third. He ends up getting stranded. The left fielder's arm rating I think was a 65.

Top of the 11th, my reliever gives up a three run homer which essentially cost me the game.
About threw my computer mouse across the room when that runner held at third because I knew what was going to happen.

Again, if he had gotten thrown out, it would have been on me. It was my choice. That's all I am asking for.

END OF RANT

Just so you know, it's not just the speed rating. There is also a "base running" rating. You can have a better than average speed runner who is bad at running the bases. Doesn't get the jumps. Holds a bit to be sure. Same is true of the opposite. He can be a slow runner who reads the ball well and runs the bases better than average. Dick Allen wasn't a very fast runner, but in his era he was known as a terrific base runner. I do very much agree with you on being asked, though. I always wondered why I didn't get that option enough.

Speed rating is a misnomer. According to the manual, speed rating deals with how likely they are to attempt a steal. Steal rating deals with how likely will be when they attempt a steal. Base running rating basically is how smart they are in running on the base paths.
I do agree one of the biggest weaknesses of the AI is in running the base paths and stealing. I have seen a lot of teams down by 3 or more runs late in the game having a base stealer get thrown out. Last night had a team down by 3 in the 9th inning had a runner try to score from 2nd on a single get thrown out at home.
