How long before ....
How long before online play is gone from OOTP 14? Is there an end to it? Can you set up LAN play for OOTP games? I really just want to know more about the online side of things.

As far as I know, OOTP 14 online play can continue as long as you're able to find people who want to commish/host and join leagues with it. It's not like console games where the publisher hosts a bunch of servers that get turned off eventually.
LAN play isn't really a thing, but I guess you could somehow set it up that way. Multiplayer in OOTP involves exporting and importing game files, where each export/import involves simming some fixed amount of time (usually a few days to a week, depending on the league's preferences).

For online leagues someone just needs to provide a server where the league file can be loaded and gms can export to. There are still leagues running v13 and maybe older.

If money is not an issue, go ahead and purchase OOTP15. The longer you put it off, the harder you will kick yourself for not buying it sooner!
