Updated historical databases available
Hey folks,
the historical databases included in update #2 (17.5.43) have a couple of issues, the pitching stats in early PCL leagues are missing and 2015 has some incorrect OF & C fielding ratings. The following new databases fix these problems. Install instructions: 1) Open OOTP, click "Game Settings" and then click the "Troubleshooting" tab in the settings dialog. 2) Click the button "Open folder containing customizable data". A Windows explorer or Mac finder window will open. In there, open the folder "stats". 3) Download this file: https://www.dropbox.com/s/krkkder15y...bases.zip?dl=0 4) Unzip it into the "stats" folder you just opened. That's it, when you create new historical leagues OOTP 17 will now use the updated database. Cheers, Markus

For patch #3 we'll have more up-to-date ones I'm sure.

Markus,
Does this database include the screwy 2014 and 2015 catcher issue you referred to earlier today? Thanks |

Markus - Specifically which years are the PCL pitching stats impacted?
Thanks |

Will this fix be incorporated into the next patch?

Okay, so when I extract the files into the stats folder, it asks if I want to replace the files of the same name that are already in there. Question: The historical odb files that are already in there are MUCH larger, if I replace with these downloads, am I going to lose a lot of other data? How do these smaller files in the download supplement, rather than replacing the files? Am I just silly to worry about it? I'm on PC, btw.
Thanks for helping the computer illiterate. |

I've tried and tried, but I just can't get this thing to update. I extract to the stats folder, it says it's already in there and would I like to overwrite it. I say yes and it goes through the extraction process. I go to check the stats folder, and it has the time stamp from when I applied the patch earlier today. What the heck am I doing wrong?
EDIT: Never mind...Got it...For some reason had to extract it into my Downloads folder and then cut and paste over to the stats folder for it to work. Weeeird! Last edited by actionjackson; 04-03-2016 at 09:13 PM. |

Are you sure you're not looking at the "compressed size" of the files on your unzipping program? The "size" of both files in the zip are comparable to the ones they're replacing.

I accept that sometimes I'm an idiot and no matter how hard I try to follow instructions, I fail.
I get this download this file and download this folder and I have no idea what I should be doing on a MAC. How about some easy step by step instructions for the mentally challenged such as myself. I would be appreciated. Thank you.

Yes, the missing stats are needed for calculating player ratings. So if you play early years with real minors (1940 or earlier I guess), apply the new files and start a new game.

So in otherwords, I don't know how to fix my game. Why is this being handled this way? I know it's probably easier for you and most folks won't have a problem, but some of us will. Oh well, I will just play random debut and forget the minors feature exists for the time being. I'm assuming the next patch will feature an unbroken database, correct? Ugh! |

David, try this...
When you double click on the downloaded filed does it open a new window such as this..... If so you have an unzip program on your computer. Let me know and I'll post how to go from there if you like. I'll check back in a while |

Thanks Matt. I'm at work right now, but will give this a shot later. Stuff like this scares the crap out of me. I usually end breaking more than I fix. |

On a sidenote, since I'm putting up a whine storm, I figured I would counter the whine with some good news. While I have no Idea how to perform the fix Markus posted, his instructions led me to figuring out how to delete the Hall of Fame baseball cards. So even if I can't play early years with "real" minors, I will now have Hall of Fame PLAQUES for the very first time. So I guess every cow does have a silver lining.

With each future data base update for early historical, will it be necessary to start a new game? Since i type a lot of Negro League players in manually, i was just wondering .... Still the minors (when i get to them) is a great feature and the game is amazing. Love most of the changes that i use. Great job guys, as i said, was just wondering about the future database updates if a game restart was needed. Thanks and have a groovy day.
