New patch - 21.1.33 question
Hi all - sorry if i missed this somewhere, but does anyone know if the changes included in this patch will be reflected if you already have a season underway? Or would you need to start a new franchise for them to take effect?
Thanks |

From my experience playing this game over the years, the patches 97% of the time will work with existing saves. Usually if you need to start over to get the changes, it will say it on the post about the patch.
This one I know works with existing saves so no worries. |

The vast majority of times that would require you to restart a league is if there are changes to rosters and you are playing the quickstart baseline MLB league.
There are folks who have been running the same league across multiple versions of OOTP and haven't had to restart.

Never had an issue patching during a season but it's always a good idea to make a backup of your league first.

The changes related to the inaugural draft, obviously would only work for new games. The rest of the changes should integrate on games in progress without much issue.

The change list for 21.1.33 stated "Fixed some issues with inaugural drafts (draft AI, auto-setup not including top picks)" I play a Standard MLB game, and started my game with the official release version, but have not hit the draft yet (I play-out all of my games). What exactly was the issue with "draft AI" and auto-setup not including top picks? (not sure I even understand the latter). I did get the Draft Pool announcement and the top projected picks look about right. Also, if there is an issue, despite installing the patch, there will be some issue I am missing with my standard MLB inaugural draft? (and if so, just that first year, not every draft from here-out in my game right?). Thanks in advance, -Cal Last edited by Calvert98; 03-22-2020 at 09:09 PM. |

I've never had an issue with updating to the newest patch, but this latest one delated my imported OOTP 20 fictional league.
I'll make sure to backup the file next time.

Just to clarify on my question regarding the Draft patch-changes...
In short, it was mentioned that you need to start over for the impact to felt, but I figured it was just for prior drafts, not for drafts going forward (or the draft for that year which you have not hit yet). So, once I downloaded the patch, I wanted to confirm that the drafts from that point on would be working correctly. -Cal |

I'm not sure. I wasn't even worried about it from new patches imported in the past. Never in an issue.
Maybe since it's in a new file location, which is a pain to begin with. I'm on a MacBook. I have no answers.

If you have a draft to start your league, that's the inaugural draft that had problems. You'll be fine with the rookie draft. Last edited by Bluenoser; 03-23-2020 at 08:04 AM. |

- Started a fictional Continental League as a third major league on Pure Stat Baseball on a Commodore 64 in 1988. - Manually transitioned to Earl Weaver Baseball in '89. No fast sim so I had to play out each game of a 14-team league. - Transitioned to Earl Weaver II in the middle of the 1992 season. Stuck with Earl II through the 1999 season. Kept up a spreadsheet of each season/team/player results. Had to manually age each player in the league because Earl II didn't have a career mode. - In 2000 I found OOTP and went through the labor-intensive process of making my own Lahman database out of my spreadsheets. Eventually imported the whole CBL to OOTP2. But ended up with some problems like the 1999 season stats didn't fully import. To this day I have issues with pre-2000 records that I've been trying to fix. But I still have the spreadsheets going back to '88. - In 2006 I was finally able to realize a goal of having the CBL as an active part of the larger baseball universe. I created a construct with all of the active professional leagues as of '06 including MLB, all the real minors, indy minors, and a lot of foreign leagues. I added maybe 10 fictional independent leagues including some wild things like a Greenland Winter Ice Baseball League, and a league in Sao Tome that has a 230-game schedule and two-man pitching rotations. In the beginning I was the GM/manager of the CBL's Yukon Prospectors, and I'm still the GM today. I used to also run the Las Vegas Gamblers, but gave that up about a decade ago. I try to keep the league approximately on the real calendar, running a day at a time. Not always successful, the last couple years I fell way behind and had to catch up this winter. But now I'm back on track, getting ready for the 2020 CBL season, which will be the 33rd. I was 17 when I started, I'm 48, going on 49 now.

Hi.
I don't know if this has anything to do with what your posting about. I want to sim the 2020 season with actual updates on injuries and possibly transactions. Noah Syndergaard will be out for the season. I want rosters to be updated with this type information. Is it possible to get Real Time data available to simulate the 2020 season ?
