Too easy to learn new positions?

Anybody else agree with me?

Case example.

I took my star SS, and in just one month of spring training, took him from 0 to 10 in 3B.

I understand that even though his fielding ratings merit him to be able to play 3B (e.g Strong arm), one month of spring training should not rocket up the experience chart that fast.

While you have a point, I think that makes up for the fact that you can't use the time between one season to another to learn a new position so to me the accelerated pace during that time is to make up for that. Presumably, this player would have been working with coaches in the offseason, maybe gone to a winter league, been doing drills during the preseason prior to ST games so under those assumptions, I don't know if the pace is unrealistic.

ARod was 6th (in the AL in 2003) in defensive WAR playing SS. He was 6th again in 2004 at 3B. Sure, it's just one example, but the SS to 3B move is commonly done.

Of course, there is a learning curve, but as Dyzalot said, OOTP spring training has accelerated learning due to the reasons given. Iirc, one of the developers said they were relying in part on comments pro players had made regarding how long it took to learn positions. If you try it during the season the time taken will ime be much longer.

Manny Machado was a star at 3B the second he was put there. I don't think 'experience' is the main factor, it's more about ability. A player may have some things to learn, but that doesn't make them a '10' because they've never played there.
