ATTN: Anybody who dislikes the bright UI.

Sebastian Palkowski (developer) replied in another threat about how to fix this issue yourself and it worked perfectly for me so I thought I'd repost it here for anybody who hasn't dug through that particular topic.

In his own words:

"As a start you could edit the default.qss file yourself:

go into your skins/default folder and open the default.qss with a text editor (easiest to find the folder is to go Startscreen -> Settings -> Troubleshooting -> "Open customizable data folder")

Then search and replace:

background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 230);

with e.g.

background-color: rgba(210, 210, 210, 230);

This will replace most white backgrounds with a darker color. You can experiment with the first three values to find a better fitting color for you (the last value, 230, is the alpha channel and determines the transparency).

There are still some places (e.g. one row of the standings screen) that has white but it might be a start.

When you have changed the default.qss file, you need to restart FHM!"

^^^ Thank you Sebastian!

There is no default.qss file when you follow the instructions (directs to the documents/ootp folder) above.
Maybe editing this one ??

The Steam install folder copy of the QSS file is what I edited, it worked without issue.

I replaced all of them and that seemed to work for me

Yeah, I did a 'replace all' with notepad to get them all in one shot and it worked just fine.

I just purchased FHM 5 today and while I can see OP's point, the UI does not bother me. However, I was a bit surprised to see that this game, version 5, does not come with any alternate skins.

[Edit: While I was looking the game over, Duranium had already made that point.]

Ugh, to each his own.

That gray looks like you're playing the game in a smoke-filled poker room. I'll take the white lol.

It's just a starting point regardless, the grey's not exactly attractive but you can play around and find a colour that works for you. This blue that I tried for instance doesn't work on the Depth Chart screen since contracted players not currently on your team show in a similar blue and so are hard to read. It's just RGB channels so the option is there to play with it and find something suitable.

This comes in very handy before perma-editing your files

Anyone know exactly where to find what needs to be changed? Is it closer to the top or the bottom of the QSS?

My side menu/widget bar was partially covered over by an overlapping white background. Used this method to sitch the color, and now the overlap problem has be fixed some how.
