"Opener" Pitchers

Have a way that we can sim games using an Opener, before going to the starting pitcher. Maybe have the option in the 7-day lineups?

My other big issue is this:

I tried manually using an opener, but here's what happened. A starter that usually could go 85 pitches got tired after 40. I want a way to change that, so that he can "prepare for a start" appropriately, allowing me to effectively use an opener.

Yea, definitely a deficiency in the way things are currently set up...but it is going to take a good chunk of development work to fix I would assume. You can't just let any pitcher throw that much in relief. There has to be a method of setting up the pitcher to be able to throw "long" whether in relief or in a "starting" roll and also managing the ability of a short relief pitcher to get a bonus in velocity.

Possibly selecting which pitcher to warm up along with a "focus" (long-term or short-term) which affects stamina, and can also be done with starting pitchers.

Only problems I can see are the AI having a true SP go with a short-term focus, or just issues getting that to at least semi-work properly from the get-go.

It needs to be clearly thought out and implemented in a way that doesn't give the user an advantage over the AI. Not a particularly easy task. I do hope it is something they are looking into though.

The other issue is that the "opener" pitcher is treated like a starter, and thus can throw like 60 pitches and be fine, but his velocity is way down, which isn't ideal since I only need him for an inning or two.

it would burn a pitcher, but can't you bring a guy in, then a 2nd one... even if you have to throw a pitch. at least a way around the lower velocity/stuff problem. you'll only get ~40 max.. although i think they changed reliever stamina a bit? maybe not.
