ORB Opening

Other Reality Baseball is a historical league that started with the 1982 season. We're currently into August of the 1984 season. We currently have one team opening, the Pittsburgh Pirates. We will finish out the current season with OOTP4 and then migrate to OOTP5.

We are looking for someone to come in like a ball of fire- being creative, communicating on the forums and to other league members, writing articles, basically contributing to the general well being of the ORB. I may, in fact, be looking for someone to take a leadership role in the future.

We have a strong group of GM's. Some are veterans of the OOTP community, some are newcomers, but all are solid. You'll definitely enjoy this experience.

As always, we welcome inquiries from those who would like to get involved but have a limited amount of time to offer. We are always excited to include those who would be interested in becoming Associate GM's or Columnists for the league.

Steps:
1) Visit our WEB SITE!
2) Do some searches around the board on ORB, ask people. You want to know that what you're getting into is a solid, established, respected league (this seems important around here lately!)

3) If you are interested, please register for our message board and answer the following questions in the Waiting List forum:

How often are you on AIM?
Willing to write a sim report for your team at least once a week?

I'm very choosy about which leagues I join, and I'm very happy I'm in this league. The owners are a very knowledgeable bunch, and the league forum is one of the most active I've seen - not active with trash talk and off topic BS, but with suggestions, debate and meaningful discussions about the league, teams and players. For those owners who can't make live sims, a transcript of the live sim chat is posted on the message board immediately after each sim. How's that for customer service?

Again, this is a very good league, and Matt runs a tight ship. If you are a fan of eighties baseball, we'd love to have you onboard as an Assistant GM, journalist or stalker/vulture until a GM vacancy comes along.

For me a key piece to an on-line league is the owners and this is a great group of owners. Very active on the forums trying to make the league better and not just posting BS on them either. Second key piece is their willingness to make trades, take a look at the Completed Trade ForumTrade Forum. There is action going on everyday and all times of the day.

If you want a fun league to be in then this is the one.

Or if you don't want to jump right in with a team the White Sox could use an Assistant GM who can help us figure how the team with the best average and 2nd best ERA (.03 out of first) in the division can be 11 games out of first at the end of July.

We updated our Owner's Participation Points today, and it looks like there will be several openings at the end of this season (when we switch to OOTP5, as well).

Get ahead of the game and get on board today as a vulture, Asst. GM or Beat Writer; you'll have priority for any team openings. We assign our franchises based on the applicant who has been most active in our Forums and with our league in these capacities.

We've just had one person join in as the NL East beat writer...starting off fantastically.

I could use at least 3 more beat writers, and anyone wanting to get back in time with some 80's baseball is MORE than welcome. We'll find ways to get you involved!

This was my first OOTP league I joined right after buying OOTP4 and it has been great I turned the Padres from a .500 team if that to what will look like a 2nd straight NL West crown (I've got quite a lead). So I am a perfect success story heh.

Hey everyone, I'm the new beat writer from the ORB in the NL East. The guys in the league are great. Even though I was not always nice to their teams (when they are doing badly a good reporter says so), they always appreciated the job I was doing. I've done so well that I've been offered a team. (Not one of the two mentioned above, we still have two openings). Come on by. You'll be glad you did.

I'm the proud owner of the Atlanta Braves and while I can't make the playoffs this season as San Diego is ripping it up, I can't wait till next year when we can all try again. Come join in the fun!
