Today is the first day of Spring Training.

The Texas Rangers face the New York Yankees in a Spring Training game.

First round pick Steve Rogers got the start. He pitched 4 scoreless innings, allowed 4 hits, walked 1 and struck out 2.

Horacio Pina gave up 2 home runs in his 3 innings on the mound.

Steve Lawson also gave up 2 home runs in the 2 innings he pitched.

The Yankees won 7-1.

In other Spring Training games:
The Orioles blanked the Indians 5-0.
The Tigers scored in the bottom of the ninth to beat the White Sox 5-4.
Minnesota outscored Milwaukee 12-9.
Kansas City doubled up Boston 10-5.
Oakland handled California 7-1.
Cincinnati needed 10 innings to beat Montreal 4-3.
It was the Braves 6 Pirates 4.
Houston shut out Philadelphia 5-0.
St Louis beat the Dodgers 5-3.
The Mets took care of San Francisco 5-3.
And the Cubs were victorious 6-3 over the Padres.

Speaking of the Padres, SP Clay Kirby has shed some weight after changing his diet in the off-season.
