Running historical league to test AI
I am going to setup MLB to run starting in 1903 when the AL begins. I am going to allow the AI to run the show and see how history changes when a computer makes the decisions. With the 1904 season, I will begin managing the Yankees to keep track of the changes they make and see how their title history and player history is changed. I will just gm and leave all personel decisions to the AI. I'll set the team strategy based on the manager's strategy. I may step in and fire coaches if they don't do too well, but that's about it. I think I'll begin with free agency, and have the dh in both leagues from day one, and I'll bet I have some dramatically different results.
I'm curious to see how history changes the 2nd time around. Who knows, maybe it will be the Cubs winning 27 titles..... Last edited by Lousghost; 12-16-2007 at 01:53 PM. |

My owner's expectations are only for a .500 season. I've set team financials to Win Now! for the strategy to see if it has any noticeable affect.

I forgot to follow the power rankings for 03 and 04, but I'm 5th starting 05. At the end of the season I was 13th, so the AI is apparently upgrading the team in the offseason for the better.

Improvement in 1907
It seems the AI may be making slow improvements in almost the same fashion the real Highlanders improved through the early years:

The Highlanders are rated fifth starting the 1908 season and the owner expects a .500 season.

Boston vs Boston for 1909
This ought to please the New Englanders. Doves vs Red Sox for the 1909 World Series.
