Oh wait... the season started? Oh crap, I better check my team. I have been busy savagely milking err... serving the player base that want to complete missions. So far today, I have sold 74 junk cards for 29k pp. Thanks!
The Colonels are back for another year with very few changes. The big moves were bringing in a couple of shortstops, 91 Rizzuto and 95 George Davis, to compete with incumbent Pee Wee Reese. I am also still on the lookout to improve my bullpen after last season's struggles. |

Yeah, it's nice seeing familiar teams, especially from people I recognize from the forums, like your team. Unless I missed it, the Raccoons don't play your team this year so we won't meet this season unless we both go to the WS. Speaking of your team, your guys are off to a great start. The Fighting Frogs are 14-4 and have the 2nd best record (along with the Developers) in the entire league! Good luck the rest of the way! The Raccoons have lost several close games to some tough teams that we'll probably lose to again, multiple times. We're 11-8 at the moment. But it still looks like it will be easier (but not easy!) than last season with all those misplaced whales. I'd like to make an upgrade or two, but I've not been able to find anyone that I want or on the rare occasion where I did, they were way overpriced. I hope the AH improves with the new collections feature online now.

I think your team and the Dyersville Ghosts will have a really good battle to determine the winner of the AC Central. I've been in a league with that team before and it's an impressive collection of cards. So much so that perfect Clemens and perfect Unit are in the bullpen there. It looks like the Bville Battling Bonsai will be a tough out for anyone--a nice little 19-1 start to the season for them. That team has perfect Cy and perfect Pedro. When perfect Grove and Mathewson are in the bullpen? Perfect Eckersley, perfect Gagne, and perfect Lee Smith setting up for perfect Rivera. Oy vay. It looks like your team is the only team to even take a game from them so far. I do hope we meet in the WS and good luck to your Raccoons as well!

A quick update for P419.
Overall, the league is not filled with many whale or super-whales. Only the Adirondack LOLCats have been seeded into the league and will be the one to defeat. Kushiel: Kids checked the schedule and they won’t be facing your Shanel team this season (unless you meet them in the finals). They are bummed but excited to watch the season play out. So far they are holding their own... Woodinville Infinite Power: 17-8 Renton Dragons: 14-10 According to them, they only share 4 players with your team (Ichiro, Ashburn, Nomar, and Blackwell) which made them happy....more new ideas for the future. LF has been identified as one of the spots they plan to review closely. They are excited about their investments but took note of your left fielder.

The Frogs started off the week hot in P405--they went 21-5 yesterday. I had little faith this kind of pace could continue as we haven't had any consistent success at this level yet. So far today the team is 7-9 so that's more like it! In fairness though, the team has played 2 strong teams from my conference as well as the best team in the other conference for a total of 8 games out of 16 played. I was heartened to see the Frogs split the 2-game set against BBB, as the Battling Bonsai are 37-6 and won 23 of their first 24.
One interesting thing about this Bville Battling Bonsai team? Take a look at its results at Perfect level: 2024 - 125-37 (playoffs) 2025 - 104-58 (playoffs) 2026 - 107-55 (playoffs) 2027 - 33-129 (no playoffs) 2028 - 108-54 (won PL) 2029 - 132-30 (won PL) 2030 - 122-40 (playoffs) 2031 - 37-6 (playoff-bound) Clearly one of these is not like the other...so what happened in 2027? My guess is the team owner was frustrated with 3 straight playoff berths and no titles so tried an intentional tank job. However, the team didn't drop below perfect even after going 33-129, so maybe this was reported and the team was refused relegation? It would be hard to believe the same roster could win 120+ games and then only 30, and also that 33 wins would avoid relegation. Maybe after seeing that intentionally tanking wasn't the answer, we decide to become an uber whale and win some titles? Anyone else share a league with this team before?

The Raccoons are 33-17 1 GB the Ghosts who've taken 6 of 8 from us so far. Frank Robinson is having another terrific year. I was quite surprised that he was able to win the MVP last season considering all the great teams in the conference.
I wanted to unload a player who's never done that well for me in spite of really good ratings, so I put him up on the AH. I thought the buy now price I set might be a bit high, so imagine my surprise when about 30 seconds later he was sold! I'm really loving seeing the AH so active again. So many choices and some are even reasonably priced.

Coons: Keep getting kicked, badly. 18-34 in Perfect. They somehow make PP, but can't win anything. Chris Taylor hit for the cycle (!?). There are however eight teams with records of .370 or worse in this league, so the Critters may well survive.
We also continue to have the absolute worst defense, which I find shocking given that I have greens all around the field, two blues sprinkled in, except for RF and 1B, where Mel Ott and Pete Alonso have a 55 and 48, respectively. This is where the lack of D stats live updates behooves Magic Pete, who should really have a higher rating. Hey, Amed Rosario, that Mets turd on legs, has what, a 79 at short? When he should really have, oh, I don't know, NEGATIVE ELEVEN?? Pete can actually handle the ball! Sorry, the Mets fandom broke through for a second. And the despair. The raging, tearful despair. Well, "Polar Bear" Pete is not really hitting all that much in Perfect, and next to him Jeff McNeil doesn't either and has a 60 defense at the keystone. So I have to purge my Metsies for better cards. (And even when D updates come at some point, this Pete is not going to get them, since I have the Future Legends edition on this team) Rebs: Reeled off a 20-win May to stand at 33-22, yet 4 1/2 behind in their division in Bronze. Nobody bought into my double Bogaerts, who has thus been auto-sold for 4k. Gonna rip me some packs right now! (rip) (rip) (rip) Nuthin'! Accountants: Got some sick PP through gameplay over night, including 2k for a flyball triple play, thanks to Max Kepler for hitting into that. Also 1k for a 14-game run streak by Tony Fernandez, which I assume is one short of the gold achievement, but, eh. Team is 30-25, just a few games out in their Bronze division.

Rough season for my guys. Been in playoff bubble or made the playoffs in most seasons, but this year my competition is fierce. Surprisingly no uber whales, so the streak is ended. But I prefer losing to 29 equal teams, so this is a lot more fun this season even though my overall record is worse.
My best team is in 3rd place in division but 7 games out of wild card already. My other 2 are in relegation territory. I don't think they'll stay there, but I'll be very surprised if I do, in fact get relegated. Just a matter of having my worst performing year by far in the league with the best competition. I've got a Daniel Murphy that has never had below a .300 avg or 134 OPS+, and he's currently hitting .119 (that's not a typo) with a 2 OPS+ (that's not a typo either), yes, 2 lol. At this point I want to see how bad it can get. I wonder if he can finish the season with a negative OPS+, lol. More than likely he'll turn it around, but we shall see.

I splurged to finish a mission, and had a bit of PP left over, so hopefully my team this year with Pedro, Legend Vlad, and Live Vlad Jr will do better than my team last year!

Lowlights thru 65 games
Pedro Martinez 2-8, 6.02 ERA ~ Dwight Gooden 2-6, 6.17 ERA ~ M. Betts .188 BA ~ Mejia .188 BA ? Schmidt .204 BA ~ Carter .204 BA ? Lynn .168 BA ~ Joe Jackson .215 BA ~ Joe Morgan .214 BA ~ Willie Mays .203 BA ~ Highlights Olerud .343 BA Ordonez .311 BA Koufax 8-2, 2.63 ERA 30-35 Record overall. Check! Could be worse with Pedro, Gooden pitching & those guys hitting like that. The schedule was pretty tough in April, though, got through May OK. Plus the team seemed to respond to me feeling awful the last 2 days, they went down right along with me.

Raccoons spent 3k for 1947 Joe Gordon to shore up the infield. Actually got rid of Chris Taylor (who seems to be on all my teams in all PT editions) and will use McNeil as roving infielder. No replacement for Big Pete on the horizon yet, nor any fancy mission rewards.

The Raccoons have moved into a virtual tie for 1st place with the Dyersville Ghosts, with a 45-22 record. We're only 3-8 versus them so far which is the worst I can remember the Raccoons doing against any team that we played more than 6 games against. I haven't studied their roster, but at a glance, I feel like we're pretty evenly matched so hopefully we'll do better in our upcoming series vs them.
For 3 straight seasons now, our hitting and pitching rankings are in the 4th-6th range. Last season we were in a league with more whales than usual, but this season isn't like that so I'm not sure what's wrong. Maybe, in spite of the fact that there's more perfect leagues, the overall quality of the leagues is actually improving? Because I'm no longer spending money on this team (though I may cave at some point), we're not improving much anymore (I added only Keeler in the past 3 seasons) so maybe the competition is catching up?

The Raccoons are in a grim division. They are 29-51, 26 games off the pace. And they are not even in the bottom two in that division, let alone the league.

The Frogs have been doing pretty decent so far in P405. We're 60-42 at the moment with a 4.5 game lead in the division. Currently in a bit of a midseason funk, but went 21-5 to begin the season so playing roughly .500 ball since then. The Frogs sent 4 players to the All-Star game (Josh Bell, Tim Raines, Bob Gibson, and Ismael Valdez--Valdez is serving as a long reliever so that was a little odd).
I was looking at the team that's starting to reel me in (13 game lead has become 4.5 pretty quickly), and that team runs really hot and really cold. They are the Hammertime Express and they began the season on a 12-game losing streak. Right now they are on a 9-game winning streak. In the process of learning about this team, I noticed this little gem of a box score. Not a bad little whack of PP, huh?
