Marathoners started off horribly this season; on June 10 they were 21-40, 2nd worse team by far. Frantic and broke, I bought a few cheap defensive players and they have turned it around going 46-21 and are tied for the wildcard. At one point they were 20+ games back from first, and have closed that gap to 6 games. Starting pitching (all 88s-89s) were getting drilled with most 5+ to 6+ ERAs. A few have improved drastically. One game they fell behind 16-0, and fought back for 15 unanswered runs, but couldn't close the deal. Would have loved to seen the points that would have been worth.
The Miners are in first place with a 16 game lead. Better not blow that one. Again, pretty heavy on defense. Can't upgrade anymore since there isn't any Cardinals I ever see in the AH that I don't already have. YakAnglers have a 10 game lead and are pretty steady. Actually dumped a few high 80 players for lower 70s for better defense and they are playing incredible.

Spent most of the first half of the season at or within a game of two of the division lead with all 3 of my teams.
Now all 3 are in 3rd place. Still not out of it, White Tigers are 4 games back in the wild card at 70-60, and the Golden Lions are incredibly only 1 1/2 games back in the division at 63-67. 1st and 14th in the conference are only separated by 11 1/2 games, and our entire division has between 60 and 65 wins. Did log in to find that I had 8000 pp to spend for the Golden Lions, most of it thanks to Brad Peacock, who threw a 14 K, 1 BB no-hitter. |

5-22! That's the final mark for the Rebels in August, with instant relegation back to Bronze now a real possibility until someone can light a spark under the sad-sack bums right now. (plays with cables) *fizzle*
Raccoons rallied a wee bit, but still had their snouts kicked in. Probably not going to get relegated. Probably not. They are still horrendous one way or another.

After overperforming through July, the Raccoons underperformed during August finishing 16-11 for the month. They're now 99-34 .744 and need to continue to win at a .740+ pace to win 120. The Bronx Bombers on the other hand, heated up (major understatement) and have now won 30 straight which included all of August!
The Bombers are a great team, but I'm always surprised when I hear of a team winning so many in a row since I'd expect bad luck to strike at some point sooner than that. I think someone on here mentioned a team that won 42 straight?!

My Bees slipped a bit yesterday but still in contention for playoff spot. Acquired Garry Maddox and Nolan Ryan diamond today for final playoff push.
Thieves and Barnstormers are leading divisions in tight races, which is shocking as they both recently got promoted to diamond. Hopefully one or both will make playoffs... |

No matter who I put in as DH, he can't hit worth anything. I've had Shoeless Joe (97 Contact vs RHP) in the DH role and only started him against RHP and yet he's hitting only .244. I've tried 3 others and all have hit below .250.
We're still on pace for 120+ wins which is something that hasn't happened for the Raccoons before (we won 114 in each of the 3 previous seasons). Congratulations to the Bronx Bombers who won 38 straight before finally losing a tough one in the bottom of the 9th.

The fortunes have changed for my Sunset Town Kings. My team has been slowly building talent over the weeks as the points gradually built up and the packs gave me some solid Gold cards and both a Curt Schilling 91 and a Satchel Paige 90 Diamond card. About mid-season in my Silver league I was in first but with plenty of holes so I picked up Rich Gedman on the auction block on the cheap and used my remaining points to buy a few packs. Then it happened, a Perfect Pedro 1999 card.
He immediately went up on the auction block and on the second go around sold for 350,000 points (315K after the 10% deduction). I have parlayed that into the following: 1934 Dizzy Dean (95) 2004 Mariano Rivera (91) 1970 Bob Gibson (97) Live Anthony Rendon (100) 1982 Gary Carter (95) 1973 Joe Morgan (97) 1969 Paul Blair (90) 1975 Goose Gossage (93) 1983 Jesse Orosco (91) Live Mookie Betts (99) 1990 Rickey Henderson (94) and another 50 Packs which gave me a 1997 Pedro (97), a Didi Gregorius (88), and a few other good card which have now gone up for auction. I have about 35,000 left and my team is crushing it. I may make one or two tweaks before next season starts but I am looking forward to seeing what this crew does for a full season without any changes. The Raccoons are amazingly well balanced heading into the playoffs, I think your team will give my team and the Bobcats a very hard time and the chances are about even. Bobcats are looking great offensively but Raccoons are looking much better in the pitching and defense department ... Playoffs will be great and anything can happen but looking forward to matching up with the Raccoons in what should to be epic! Good luck to everyone in the playoffs!

The Frogs are struggling to get to the finish line it would seem.
Thinking an 8-17 July was an aberration after a successful first half of the season, the Frogs rebounded with a 17-10 August record. But, the team has gone into the tank once again in September with a 6-13 mark. Not what the team needs to hold onto its ticket to the playoffs in P415. As it stands the Frogs are 80-70 and lead the last wild card spot by 5 games. La Crosse opens up its final 3-game intradivision set against the 110-40 Pine Tar Pirates. Pine Tar is the 2nd best team in the league behind the 118-win Flagstaff 49ers. The Frogs also play the division-leading Auburn Doubledays for a quick 2-game interleague series. Aside from the Pirates and Doubledays, the other 7 games on the schedule are winnable games. So the team would truly not deserve a playoff spot if it were to cough up a 5-game lead with 12 games remaining.

And in an astounding display of mediocrity, the White Tigers, Black Panthers, and Golden Lions finished 82-80, 81-81, and 81-81, respectively. At least the Golden Lions made the playoffs again. |

That was way closer than it needed to be. The Frogs entered September with a 9-game lead in the wild card, so a playoff berth seemed like a foregone conclusion. But, then the team played horrific .286 ball (8-20) in September while the 2 teams chasing went 21-7 (with an 11-game win streak and an 8-game win streak) and 14-12. Luckily for the Frogs, both of the chasers (from a much weaker division than mine I might add so I would've been pretty ticked to get caught by either one of them while they clubbed baby seals all month long) had to play each other to end the season. They couldn't both win!
As it so happened, that 9-game lead turned into a 1-game lead with 3 games to play. The Frogs finally handled business by taking 2/3 to clinch wild card #2. The team that was trailing by 2 games took 2/3 from the team that was trailing by 1 game, so it worked out in the end. lol The Frogs' prize is 1000 PP for making the playoffs, a nice green highlighted record in the manager tab, a little perfect playoff emblem on my forum signature, and a road playoff game against the 104-win DDingu Eagles--a team that finished 20 games ahead of me (and 15 games behind the Pine Tar Pirates) in my division. The Frogs were 8-11 against the DDingu Eagles during the regular season so it seems like a winnable game. If there is one advantage, it's that the Eagles are pretty susceptible to my lefty "starter" followed by righty long reliever setup. They have a platoon-heavy lineup. If they don't get to my lefty "starter" in the 1st or 2nd inning, then I like my chances to make it a competitive game.

Raccoons finished 71-91 in Perfect, avoiding relegation soundly in the end by almost 20 games (one team to get relegated lost 17+ games *every* month, the other finished the year 11-43 to let us gain margin after it looked dicey in August), but at the same time there was a whole lotta meh going on. In the bottom four in defense AND batting average … shouldn't that mean that upgrades are trivial to find?
The Rebels ended up 71-91 in Silver and dodged relegation to Bronze by a mere two games. Giancarlo Stanton hit 35 dingers for the home run crown. Nobody else did anything particularly memorable. The Accountants are still entry-pooling … I made a few unwise moves to burn a few hundred PP on players that apparently nobody wants. I mean, Asdrubal Cabrera is not something I'd want on my roster, either… oh boy.

All 3 teams made the Perfect League playoffs again, and they basically did it on autopilot as I was unable to pay much attention this week.
Doha (117-45) easily won the division and the #1 seed in the conference but I already had my share of losses against the wild card winner; I'm keeping my finger crossed. After many seasons of roster stability I made 2 changes, as I pulled perfect Gehrig to replace Buck Leonard (not sure it was worth it) and finally found a pitcher I liked for a reasonable price, and I spent all my spare PPs on Pete Alexander. Great Lake (104-58) finished second in the division and are heading to the wild card that will be played at home which is an advantage for us. The highlight of the season was perfect Pedro winning the triple crown. He will pitch in the wild card game so I hope we have a good chance. Perugia (90-72) started the year poorly but finished very strong in the last 2 months to claim the division title. I'm still amazed at how well this team is performing in perfect, with a a lineup made up mostly by gold players. We were lucky to be in the weakest division, as the other 2 had 4 very strong teams, and now we are going to face a super team in the first round. Anything can happen in a short series but the chances are very slim.

After three weeks languishing in the basement levels of the Perfect Leagues, the Hermosa Beach Banana Hammocks clawed their way into the PL .407 Wild Card. Determination may have been as much of a factor as the continuous stream of ice cold lagers fueling manager Leroy Jenkins' tunnel vision to bring his rag-tag group of ballplayers to the promised land for the first time.
The Hammocks will be facing the Old Hoss Radbourns, managed by one Mr. Smogisntblue - his old Peanut League batterymate from 38 years ago. "Screw that guy Jenkins, I want the win", said OHR manager smogisntblue, while chewing on what can only be described as a ravioli. Details are not known about whether that is a sudden myth or truth, but it was recently confirmed Banana Hammocks manager Leroy Jenkins was last seen with his pants around his ankles and wearing a red satin jacket reading "Indians 1984 Champs". "You better know how to suck it smoggy", LeroyJenkins said, "you better know how to suck it good". -AP

Raccoons ship in Victor Robles for 5k and Chris Taylor for 300, just shoring up a few things. We didn't have a great defense utility player (and Taylor ain't great, but sure cheap), and we went most of the season without much of an actual centerfielder; Robles will plug that hole. Patching that spot between Conforto and Rettenmund obviously didn't work. Since Conforto also barely hit .200, he's off the roster now… sadly.

All three of my teams F2P win their divisions, with the YakAnglers going 100 - 62 and the third best record in the league.
The Marathoners completely turned their season around and finished 94-68 after a disastrous start. Was fun watching them come back from 20+ games down. Since August 1st they have went 45-13. The Miners had their division wrapped up for quite a while but stumbled to the finish line and finished 103-59 and the best record in the league. Added Lee Smith and Tom Henke to bolster the bullpen.

Bees got in as a wild card last day of the season and Barnstormers won division on last day of season. Whew!
Thieves are also a wild card. Surprised and pleased that both of my recently promoted diamond teams made the playoffs... |

The Colonels won their last 15 in a row to take the division title with 108 wins. The streak was triggered when I sent newly-acquired Babe Ruth to the reserve roster and brought back Christian Yelich. Apparently, the rest of my team did not like Ruth, who hit .203 in 40 games and drank too much.
