Season 2 (2020) Discussion: 4/1 - 4/7
Both my teams got to Silver, where Walter Johnson is already setting stuff on fire. Struck out 16 for the Raccoons in his third outing of the year, good for the majority of the 1,120 PP for the Critters in that particular game.
But we're just 7-5 overall at this point, so no reason to completely go whacko. Oh, what the heck. Whacko!! On the other hand, the Rebels started 10-2 (!!??) in their silver division, but only got 110 PP overall. I *still* have three bronze (Voiselle, Rodon, Minor) and one iron (Alex Reyes) starting pitcher on that team…!

In my bronze league, I have Mark Grace starting the season completely on fire. Was 5 for 5 in his first game, and 13 games in still has a .520 batting average. Can't believe that card is only a 70 OVR!

Rough start to my Silver League -- with a 4-9 record so far -- my division (haven't looked at the rest of the conference) has some stacked teams including one team full of diamonds so it's going to be a slow week for my Angels.
Might take the opportunity to re-configure my team a little bit, I've been hoarding all the cards I've pulled from packs so might go through and figure out platooning options etc...

Well, an improvement for Chattanooga; I pulled a Corey Seager on the weekend, but wanted to stick to Xander Bogaerts and roll the dice anew. Sold Seager for 2,430 PP (after tax) and was able to buy three packs. I think the gamble paid off - I pulled a Giancarlo Stanton, a 2013 Jarrod Parker (79), and a good pen upgrade in Jace Fry. Better than two gold shortstops for sure! There is also a Maikel Franco there that might make it to DH for me. I have Tom Brookens at third, and I don't like Franco's D one bit.
Well, my Chattanooga team looks more or less the same and they also got off to a 10-2 start. I think that is that small sample size thing everybody's always harping about…!

Expos in bronze league now, added Vlad and Walker on the lineup but no more budget for the pitching staff who is ridiculously bad in bronze league to date( best starting pitcher is Livan Hernandez, thats dont help). Offence must carry the team. 4-5 start on the season.

Holy crap! Victor Robles just went 6 for 6 and hit for the cycle for me in the last game. 2,660 PP from one player in one game!

Team was promoted to Bronze level from iron. Team is made up of mostly bronze and silvers, with a emphasis on defense and high average gap hitters. Started 0-4 by getting swept by a really good team. Since them we have won 10 straight to go 10-4.

B'sin'Glou are finding bronze level very tough. 5-14 to start. We are 0-13 on the road!
EDIT: It's not our pitching that's letting us down, either. We're 6th in runs against. It's our offense, who've only managed 55 runs so far

The #5 starter for the Las Vegas White Tigers (now in silver) has an ERA a shade over 1. Everyone else (Syndergaard, Carrasco, Bunning, Kluber to a lesser extent) stinks.
As for the Las Vegas Black Panthers, they have the second best record at 15-6 in Iron .181 (good) which means they're currently in a wild card spot 1.5 games back in their division (bad). The Las Vegas Golden Lions, on the other hand, are sitting in third place, 3.5 games back in their division, at 10-11. We're also the only team in our division with a positive run differential and would have a 1.5 game lead based on pythag. Last edited by Warhawk; 04-01-2019 at 10:12 PM. |

The Frogs getting off to an uneven start in Bronze .232 at 9-11. Somehow, diamond Aaron Judge has...err...umm...ZERO home runs thru 20 games. I guess they don't make 96 HR power (87 vs LHP/99 vs RHP) like they used to.

Never thought I'd say this after 1986, but Bob Stanley has been a beast for me. The Bail Bondsmen are currently the top ranked Iron .155 team.

iron is a lot tougher than it was last week. looks like a lot of people waited until last monday to join the entry pool in order to build up their teams more before entering a league

I did this. Seems like the smart play for non-spendy teams. The entry pool running overnight means double the PP rewards, and with the game releasing on Friday, it was probably more like 4-5X PP for those who waited.

So, winning 10 games in a row gets zero PP? In fact, the entire streak didn't even earn me enough for 1 pack including all achievements. That's disappointing...winning is fun though.

There are some tradeoffs. Starting right away got you those extra few days and a lot of cards sold for insane premiums but now the AH has settled down a lot

That's definitely true. I would say it comes down to your preference of opening packs vs. building a team on the auction house. If you want to open a bunch of packs, and make a lot of PP that way, then it would be much better to start on day 1. But for the other approach with no pack opening, waiting seems better.
