Season 1 (2019) Discussion: 3/25 - 3/31

Aaaand here we go.

Amazingly, both of my teams made it to bronze out of the entry pool. My free team did it rather easily, always playing a wee bit over .500 in the entry pool. My primary, I-blow-my-paycheck-on-thee team ended up sneaking their way into bronze in what I assume were the final hours of the entry pool, because they were like five under .500 when I left for work this morning and they looked hellbent on fudging their way into the iron level. Either that, or there were so many <30 games played teams that they made it in that way.

I do not know what to make of this.

Thank goodness I ticked the "cannot be fired" box …!

One of my teams ended up in silver, one in bronze, and one in iron. I can only hope I get beat down enough in silver to drop to the next lower rung. Lots of whales in my league!

Well, we also cruised into bronze level

But now we're on our way to a 162-0 season, giving the term "Out of the Park" a new meaning the way we have blown our opponents away on our way to a 5-0 start ...

Building back my Expos in Iron league. More cheap expos card in this vrsion of PT. And my second club too in iron League, Ailes Angels.

Thats will be a long process...not lucky like in 19 with packs but its will be more challenging.

I finished in about 52nd place in the entry pool, so Iron level for me. Partially bad lucky and also I used the entry pool time to experiment and fiddle with rotation settings and learn more about the ratings I value and how to build my team. I still have some things to learn but I'm getting there. I'm going with a bit more of a sabermetric approach and hoping to put a good team around Gwynn (yes I pulled him last Friday! Best silver pull I'll probably have all year!)

My Evergreen Forest Raccoons somehow did well (.570 WPct last I checked) in the entry pool so they got promoted to bronze. I let the AI setup everything and haven't changed a thing. My starter packs were unremarkable and so I can't figure out why the Raccoons are doing reasonably well.

At this point, I just want to accrue some PP and monitor the AH for a while before making upgrades. Unfortunately, we might get promoted to Silver since 16 teams will get promoted. I really want to make smarter upgrades (and more substantial upgrades) this time around so I'm going to take it a bit slower this time.

Same. I want to take it slow and make sure I'm confident before I feel more comfortable making bigger acquisitions. The only silver I've bought so far is a 300PP closer. It seems like for most gold/silvers that are out there there is also a bronze 'budget' option, if you're willing to compromise some of the high ratings.

I am trying to build that free team just with packs, and I got like five or six of them in addition to all the starter packs and the gold pack and the PP pack … and look at THAT rotation - those guys were atrocious in the entry pool. I can't remember which was which, but there were two ERA's in the 5's there, one in the 6's, and one in the 7's...

And I just can not draw another starting pitcher …!

Never mind my whining above, I scratched enough PP together for another pack and popped Zack Wheeler (81). That'll do for now!

I only started one team at open and only made it to iron. I started two more teams today to rack up PP for a full week in the entry league.

I'm going to go much more slowly than in 19. There's plenty of time this year because we get a full year instead of just 4-5 months. Moving slowly lets me get attached to different cards on the way up, something that I missed in 19, when there were so many must-have cards on every team. 20 seems to have fixed that.

I see the entire PT year as a journey, not a race to the top. When you get to the top, it seems to become a lot more boring.

Two of my teams are in Bronze and one in Iron. The Iron team was originally going to be my go to team but the luck of the pulls in the Pool set them too far back. Both of my other teams pulled a Sale in their first easy run of achievement points Friday evening. That is a big boost at this level. Both of those teams had some other luck too.

I'm kinda fond of my closer - he's striking out everybody (14.7) in the park while at the same time walking everybody (12.3) in the park.

I finished 2nd from last in the entry pool after a terrible starting pack and not spending any points until today.
I spent my first 5,000 earned points and pulled two diamond cards.

I am in Iron .161 so hopefully I can rack up PP until I get promoted since this team is packs only FTP.

I will start my second team tomorrow or Wednesday and it will be FTP but I will allow myself to use the AH.
Then in a few weeks once everything is settled I will start my third team.

I got promoted to Silver out of the Entry Pool!

Got swept in my first series against a team with multiple Diamonds and Perfects... but that's how she goes sometimes.

Ended up finding my trusty Chris Colabello in the Auction House too!

I played into last place in entry then replaced the entire team with 1000-1200 priced gold players. no one I really want long term but should be good for racking up points this season and theres no real risk since I can just quick sell them for only a small loss when prices settle down and Im ready to upgrade

hoping to come home from work to see good things. really wish the app gets here soon

I just put an Eckersley that I drew this morning on the AH. Hopefully this will turn into my building capital. If not it will be a heck of a closer for me

I decided to be patient and waited until this morning to start my teams, to have an entire week in the entry pool.

It was really tough not playing this weekend. We shall see if my patience will be rewarded or not.

Nabbed a 98 Justin Turner from one of my free gold packs, so I'm taking that as a good omen.

I just took a look, in Silver with a 9-3 record although I do think I'm going to get cut down at the knees sooner or later I am seeing some stud rotations I haven't come up against yet. Building my team without spending extra (real) money
