Potential New Player

Hi everyone!
I have been a user of another computerized Board game since 1968 (not a computer game then). I really enjoy replaying entire seasons (currently replaying the 2014 season). I manage the home teams and let the computer manage the visitors. It seems the manufacturer of this game is no longer supporting/updating the computerized game, but rather developed a game "geared" for playing against other players for which I have no interest.I am now looking for another venue.
I am hoping OOTP offers what I am looking for! Maybe someone who shares the same interests can tell me if I can replay an entire season, starting with the opening day line-ups, facilitating the trades and player movements that occurred during that season. I am looking for realism (statistics, player injuries, rain outs, fatigue issues, automatic line-ups, etc.) I am not looking to play other players. My question, Can OOTP baseball provide all of this capability including modern stadium replicas

I don't know how good the stadiums are because I usually sim the games completely, but everything else you're looking for ootp can provide. They let you tweak the league setup if you're not satisfied with the stats. You can turn trading off and manually control the trades as you see fit. Simming the same season many times would give you many outcomes too so it won't necessarily be a mirror of the historical season but you'll get pretty close. The good players usually produce and the bad players are usually worse, but you'll get some anomalies too.

It would be an incredible amount of work, but yes, you can do it. Play in commish mode, disable AI controlling teams (or is it set all teams controlled by player? either way...), and hell, even turn off all injuries so you can proceed in a season and injure players as they get hurt IRL.

Thank you

Thanks guys for responding and providing the info. If I purchase OOTP 18, will it have the 2016 season included with opening day rosters?

He might be talking about historical. If so, yes, the 2016 season with opening day rosters will also be included.

You can start any season from 1901 to 2016 with accurate opening day rosters.

You can also set the game to use real historical lineups and real historical transactions (which includes injuries, suspensions, and trades).

If you want to replay more than one season at once, you can also set players to enter the game when they were real-life rookies, retire when they retired in real life, and even have players miss the seasons they missed in real life.

Example historical game settings screenshot below:

Fair point.

ootp 18 will have the 2017 rosters...

they do roster updates 1-2 times during the year, too. they even offer a aug or sep 1 post-trade deadline roster update for some unknown reason, lol.... some people like it. they shouldn't have opened that pandora's box, lol.

now they have to keep doing it or face negative PR feedback, lol. "you don't know what you got till it's gone" works in reverse, too. you don't care about what you don't have and don't know is possible. (not a common thing in sports games since their inception)

I wish they'd do a offseason roster set and the ability to take a team over at that point.
