Most Incredible Career in All OOTP History!?!
So I just ran a quick Historical Sim using all default settings, OOTP's Talent Development Engine, Historical Rookies entering at the correct time, and minor league levels AA and AAA. No other values were changed with regards to Development, Aging, and so on. I began the sim in 1901 having imported all stats from prior years. Having paused the sim at the end of the 1949 season and looking at career Wins leaders, I found the most amazing career I have ever seen. Lefty Gomez, a 4-time 20 win starter with 189 total Real Life wins has done this....
And this.... In his 20 year career (so far), he has been Pitcher of the Year all 20 times! He has had one day-to-day injury in his entire career. And a look at his Career Development has been ridiculously steady. Having just pitched to his 3rd highest win total and 2nd best ERA of his career at age 40, and of course winning his 20th straight POY Award, where the heck might Gomez end up??? I'll let you know. But I had to stop and show this as soon as I saw it. Incredible!!!! For comparison sake, Smoky Joe Wood also had a wonderful career, finishing second all time with 419 wins over 22 seasons from 1908-1928 with a 2.45 ERA, and 3747 strikeouts. He won a staggering 9 POY Awards, but even he had 13 separate injuries (all from 4 days to 2 weeks out) and a full page of developmental changes. Last edited by bkotler; 03-10-2017 at 07:22 PM. |

I've posted this guy before. He might have a claim to the thread title. Either way it's all good.
Unfortunately I don't have a development report. I'd have to find an older backup.

Jesus Christ, I've never seen a 20 WAR season before, but a 0.68 WHIP from a starter deserves it.

WOW you guys make my Jose Fernandez career look like it was horrible and here I thought it would be tough to beat and you guys made it look easy LOL
His career was 406 wins ... 29 wins one season and 407 Ks and 5905 career. However with his HOF he did manage to be the only one that got 100% HOF vote 9 CY awards and 3 MVPs Last edited by r0nster; 03-10-2017 at 10:19 PM. |
