Baltimore Orioles won 16 Championships in 47 playoffs appearances. Other notable teams... Boston Red Sox won only 6 championships in 35 playoffs appearances. Chicago Cubs won 12 championships in 50 playoffs appearances. New York Yankees won 8 championships in 41 playoffs appearances. The Rockies, Astros, D-Backs, Marlins, Padres, Rays and Rangers never won a championships. The Astros only made the playoffs 2 times in their history. The all-times leaders are Hits - Ty Cobb - 4499 HRs - Barry Bonds - 836 SBs - Rickey Henderson - 1125 WAR - Ted Williams - 167.2 Wins - Toad Ramsey - 494 Ks - Nolan Ryan - 5649 Saves - Trevor Hoffman - 508 The singles season HR leader was Roger Maris with 70 in 1961. Thought I would toss out a few of my favorite players and how they did.
Andre Dawson played 20 years (76-94 A's, 95 Red Sox, 96 Astros). He was a career .264 hitter with 2688 hits and 376 HRs. He was a 4 time All-Star. He led the league in HRs with 32 in 1981 and Triples in 1982 with 14. Ryne Sandberg played 17 years (81-86 Expos, 87-92 Braves, 93-94 Twins, 95 Reds, 96 A's, 98 Yankees). He sat out the 1997 season, must not have been offered a contract he liked. He was a career .290 hitter with 2379 hits and 252 HRs. He was a 7 time All-Star. Led the league in hits in 1990 and Runs in 1986. Mark Prior played 14 years (02-07 Red Sox, 08 Tigers, 09 Twins, 10 Nationals, 11 White Sox, 12 Mariners, 13 Rockies, 14-15 Royals, 17 Tigers). He sat out the 2016 season but wasn't injured. Prior finished his career with a 158-162 record. A career 4.82 ERA with 2250 Ks. He was a 2 time All-Star. He led the league in Ks in 2004. |

Jay Dahl played in parts of 15 years (67-77 Braves, 78-79 Blue Jays, 80 Angels, 81 Yankees). He went 24-13 with 13 saves in his career being a relief pitcher. Never led league in anything or had any awards.
Ken Hubbs played in parts of 16 all with the Orioles (61-76). He was a career .231 hitter with 9 career HRs. Won a World Series ring with the Orioles in 1961. Nick Adenhart never made in onto a major league roster. He was a 6th round draft pick by the D-Backs. Lyman Bostock played 9 years (75-80 Orioles, 81 Twins, 82 Yankees, 83 Royals). He was the 1975 Rookie of the Year and led the league in hits during the 1976 season. For his career he was .312 hitter with 38 Home runs. Oscar Taveras never made the majors either or wasn't in the database that came with the game for historical mode? |

Darryl Strawberry played 15 years (83-92 Reds, 92-93 Cubs, 94 Reds, 95 Tigers, 96 Marlins, 97 Rangers). He won the 1983 Rookie of the Year and was a 4 time All-Star. The Reds traded him during the 1992 season along with Bruce Ruffin, for Julio Franco, Rudy Seanz, Eric Anthony and $600,000. Then in 1994 before the season started the Cubs traded him back to the Reds for Rick Reed and Henry Mercedes. Last edited by cubsfan810; 10-28-2014 at 09:00 AM. |

Thanks for sharing, I'm replaying MLB history from 1893 on (chose that year since it was then that the pitchers mound was moved from 50 ft to its current 60 ft 6 in. So far I'm up to 1910. It's cool to see guys like Dimaggio, Aaron, Mike Trout, Barry Bonds and others active in the "dead ball" era. One thing I'll be interested to see is how certain father/son combinations did, and more importantly, how does the son compare with the dad when the son's career was actually earlier? (e.g. Barry Bonds is already in my league, but I don't think Bobby Bonds has shown up yet). Have you found anything interesting in your league re: fathers and sons, particularly when both were outstanding real life players in their time? Also, what about brothers who ended up playing in different eras? Thanks! Last edited by bd001217; 11-15-2014 at 09:56 PM. |
