concept idea for future OOTP releases

One cool customization that would really spotlight OOTP's customization advantage over it's competitors would be the ability to modify baseball rules.

Just like baseball did during it's growth.

A walk could equal 5 balls, instead of 4.
A strikeout would consist of 4 strikes... or none at all, have to put ball in play.
A ground rule double = a hr.
A hit batter equals an at bat.
Balks don't exist.
etc, etc...

I think that would really up the ante in fictional lgs and historical replays (even more so if the pre-1900 engine gets redefined).

Just my humble opinion... I think someone has mentioned this before too.

The coding required to customize the rules would be unbelievably complicated... but if they could do it, I'd be all for it. Big if, though.

depends on how code is written.

are the baseball standards hard coded or variables?

is it written 4 balls = walk or X balls = walk?
just looking to replace the hard standards with variables that could be modified in-game. I think it would open huge doors on fictional play and historical replay.

who knows how many of Babe Ruth's HRs were actually ground rule doubles? because back then, they were counted as HRs...but also, the fences were 40 ft further away, lol.
