Happy 100th Doc!
My team trainer, Ol' Doc Whitworth just turned 100 years old! The game year is 1917, so Doc Whitworth was born in 1817 during the Madison administration. He helped patch up Union soldiers during the Civil War, which perhaps explains why he's so good at patching up ballplayers. I don't think they always appreciate it though when he pulls some whiskey out of his bag, tells them to take a shot then shakes his head sadly and says "I'm sorry, that leg's gotta go..."
He looks a little cadaverous, but is still doing a fine job. However when he starts to totter out of the dugout to go tend to an injured outfielder, everyone else on both teams settles in for a nice long nap. By the way, my hitting coach, Giles Pitt, is now 93 years old, and the pitching coach, Dickie Garver is a young whipper-snapper at 89.... |

Holy Cow! You are paying him $954/year? Aren't you better paying him by the injury? You know at some point he is going to keel over on the way to the player and you will still owe him for the rest of the years wages. At least he is in his last year.

Y'all must have some killer medical benefits for him not to retire.

Oh no! I think you've explained it. He definitely has a zombie-like quality. And that would explain my aging hitting and pitching coaches too. And also the reason why the owner keeps complaining about not enough stolen bases (zombies not being known particularly for their speed). On the other hand, the "Buffalo Zombies" has a nice ring to it.... |

Buffalo Zombies
Doc Whitworth is 106 now. Everyone on the staff are now clearly zombies, even the youngsters. The are all quite terrifying, especially Bernie, the bench coach. Aaaaaahhhhhh!

And Mr. Whitworth is poor in Fatigue Recovery ... he probably doesn't even know what fatigue is

Do you keep un-retiring them each season to keep them going?

Nope. I don't know why they won't retire. I just offer a contract every year and they accept, just like normal. You'd think they would have more fun starting a zombie apocalypse (or "taco lips" as my step daughter likes to say) or something, but they seem to like their jobs.

Doc Whitworth is 112 years old now. Hitting coach Pitt is 105 and Pitching coach Garver is now 101. Three centenarians now on the staff!
(Bench Coach Mullins is only 79, but he may get there eventually) I've just moved over to OOTP18 - so it will be interesting to see if these guys continue to survive in the new universe... |
