Record for futility
Hi all, not a dynasty report, but single season. In replaying the 1972-73 historical NHL season, the expansion Atlanta Flames finished 1-77-0 for a whopping 2 pts. They trailed the division leading Blackhawks by a mere 119 points.
My California Golden Seals finished just ahead of Atlanta in that division, with a respectable 70 pts. Atlanta's "attack" had 4 double-digit goal scorers, led by 40 year old Andy Bathgate with 13. Other noteworthy stats: 1.35 G/G 6.24 GA/G 14.19 S/G 52.56 SA/G And if that wasn't bad enough, 4 players had +/- of worse than -100! Didn't check to see if coach or GM got fired, though...seemed pointless. But I did hear the owner ran away and joined the circus after the season. |

I suppose from that point, things can only get better.
