College Hockey

Considering purchasing with the up coming new release. I am only interested in the college portion of the game. Appreciate any comments/insights as to how immersive/realistic the experience.

btw-have been playing OOTP since v4...so my expectations are high.

If your expectations are high, you'll likely be disappointed. While FHM has received many quality-of-life improvement over the years, it's not on the same level as OOTP Baseball. It doesn't have the 3D gameplay and overall depth that OOTP has. The College Hockey isn't an exact representation of real life either. I give the devs props for getting College Hockey into the game, but it has more of a "free agency" rather than actual recruiting and the dates of important events don't line up either. That's because it's an add on to a hard coded NHL game rather than a stand along College Hockey game.

I had a really enjoyable experience playing as a college hockey team - the model they use isn't perfect, but it works well enough and is fun.

However, the biggest problem I had was just how slow the game ran with NCAA and Canadian college leagues running. I have a decent computer and can play large databases in Football Manager but for some reason, FHM slows down after anything more than a few leagues. I'm really hoping this is improved for FHM 11.
