No, demote somebody from the active (25 Man) roster to the minors. The best choice to demote is a younger player who has options left. These players have a * beside their name but do not have a + or another character.

If you have no players with options left then you need to put them on waivers/DFA.

Note that when you want to promote a player he should (but not always) have the * character. That tells you he is on the secondary (40 man) roster. If you want to promote a player who is not on the 40 man roster you need to have room on it or the game will refuse.
