Injuries and Careers

I got to wondering what effect, if any, did injuries have on the long-term prospects of a player? I haven't noticed any Career Ending Injuries, but are players who've suffered injuries more likely to retire young? More likely to lose their abilities? Does it have some effect on future injuries? Or is the rate of injury simply based on the original base stats?

As always, thanks!

I suppose that depends on whether the CEIs are on my team or one of my rivals!

But seriously, I hadn't noticed any CEI's but I just started looking, so that doesn't surprise me at all. Are they announced as a CEI? Or is the player just quietly retired at the end of the year?

I play almost exclusively in HM, so it seems like a player's long-term success is more or less hard coded. This might also be an issue since the effect of inhuries might be different in the past and future modes. Are you playing HM or contemporary and future (2014+)?

EDIT: BTW, love your location. When you finish training those slugs can I have one?

HM? I play fictional set in a 1970's and 80's universe mostly and some historical replay. No success of a player is hard-coded unless you are playing a recalc historical league with real players.

It is hard training the slugs because they are very slow.....sometimes it is hard to tell which base they are heading for....but they taste good!

In my current sim (up to 2018-19 with the Canucks). I noticed that an injury to Daniel Sedin when he was 34 accelerated his deterioration as a player (compared to Henrik - which I think is a fair-ish comparison). I've seen several career ending injuries (about one per season) - biggest was either Paul Stastny or Tero Tuovanien (because it happened at 22).

I'm using the "ArtMoney" workaround on the contract "money available for free agents" issue. It seems to be working. The sim isn't perfect - but I'm having fun with it.
