Player interaction is very poor on ootp5.There's a lot of room for improvement in this area.

To the Devs

We're all trying to get you guys to answer this "Merchandising" question if you are browsing some threads. No one seems to know where it comes from but there have been a couple of solid tested ideas. If you get a chance please answer that thread!

Also, here's my suggestion for Merchandising that I posted there, and how I think it should be changed:

I would love to see some type of system where "Merchandising" is based off retention of star players. If a star player stays with your team for X number of years, then you get a lot more merchandising money. It would help those low markets that have star players and want to keep them, and it would help teams from making 300 trades every year shuffling around the top talent.

I know what people are going to say - that's a crappy idea because the whole idea of this is to be ABLE to trade star players, but here's an example - I'm a huge hockey fan. Paying 150 bucks for a jersey is very very expensive for me and I don't have money to throw around. I'm a lot more inclined to spend money on a jersey of a guy that I KNOW is solid and is going to be around for a while. And if he gets traded, I honestly would not prefer to make another investment into a hockey jersey for some time until another star guy has emerged and is going to stick around.

How about having state income taxes playing a role in contract signings and free agency. A player will be more likely to sign with you if you reside in a state w/o a state income tax or a player will sign for less money with a team in a state w/o state income tax than a team with a state tax. Inspired by Juan "Greedy" Gonzalez.

sorry if these have been mentioned, but i haven't read this whole thread

1. let us trade cash, as well

2. classify free agents, like the big leagues, in a, b, c, etc, so if we lose one, we are compensated with draft picks

3. regarding the draft, i'd like to see college and high school stats. basically, more than talent ratings we are given now. make the draft a deeper process

4. get rid of the avoid hits and runs ratings. giving up hits (per balls put in play) is completely random. the only things a pitcher can control is walks, strikeouts, homeruns, and groundball %

At the risk of sounding like an ass, which might be in order at this point, this is not the Wish List thread. The very first post in this thread directs everyone to the actual thread that holds the overall suggestions. That is the thread that any and all suggestions should be posted in.

A little help from the members would go a long way toward helping Henry out with keeping everyone’s ideas organized. This could also help in the long run by allowing all of our ideas to be heard instead of overlooked.

Please help by posting all suggestions in the appropriate thread.

this was a 1st for me yesterday, so as the 3rd out in the bottom of the 6th was recorded my starting pitcher got injured...i had to replace him with a reliever before continuing to the next 1/2 inning. he was supposed to bat second so i had to let the reliever hit, when this could have been solved by having a PH bat for the injured P, then replacing him with a RP in the next inning...i would like to see that change

When you use the Find Players feature from the Player Trade window, you should be able to rightl click on the players found to initiate the trade.

It would also be nice if you could actively shop a player to all teams at the trade deadline, instead of the passive trading block in the Transactions window (i.e. when clicking 'Select Team' there are other options, like 'All NL East', 'All AL', or 'All MLB').

Would it be possible to make a stat on the Finance Page that gives "Next Season's PROJECTED Payroll" based on signed extensions and possible free agents?

I know this has been mentioned before, but I would just like to add that I would also like to see pitchers have "personal" catchers ala Greg Maddox.

I like what Crabster said about more hitting options, i.e. with a guy on 2nd, be able to try to hit to the right side to advance the runner to 3rd, etc. Or, with guys on 1st and 3rd, be able to try for a sac fly, etc. There are a lot of situations where you don't want to 'swing away' but try to get a hit or advance the runner without bunting.

Not sure if it's mentioned before but how about having the choice to run-and-hit. Instead of taking off when the pitch is thrown, the runner takes off when the batter makes contact. The goal is to avoid double plays. Downside is that he's dead if it's a line drive or a short fly ball.

There is an option to hit and run if you play out the games...I'm sure when games are simmed they happen as well.

I know about hit-and-run, but the runner takes off when the pitch is thrown. Lots of time, my batter misses and my runner is thrown out at 2nd. I want an option to have the runner take off when the ball is hit so that it'll reduce the chance for a double play.

Thinking more about this, maybe there really isn't that much of an advantage. You might get an extra base on a base hit but I don't think you can cut down on a double play probability.
