I'm going to set up a fantasy world, sim 10 years, then be the GM/Manager combo of one of the teams. 12 team league. Play out every game in 1 pitch mode.

Also, I'll pick one MLB team and be the GM in a standard MLB game.

I chose GM but it still gives me a manager record?

A bottle of Spanish red while I get to know this beauty. I like to have full control over my team, so it'll probably be manager and GM of the Cubs.

I consider myself fairly new so I am manager only of the 69 Cardinals.

Once I am familiar with all the manager functions I will probably start a GM only league and learn those functions.

For some reason I'm really looking forward to the manager only mode. Going to try that with the 69 Pilots and see how long I can last with them. Having to make the best of the whims of a GM sounds fun to me right now. We'll see how i feel in a few seasons.

Now I just need my email!!! The suspense is killing me!

If I play GM only I'm completely at the mercy of the manager dictating lineups and roles? Or do certain managers let you have some say in that? I know I can tweak the strategy parts of it already.

Yes, the manager will be in charge of pitching and lineups. Some lesser-ranked managers will let you set individual player strategies, so you can at least force-start players. If your manager is legendary, though, he will have full control! You better hire someone you trust.

But you can feel safe right now that if your manager has an unhealthy obsession with a bad player, you can trade or send down the guy and the manager won't be upset at you. We haven't gotten that far in modeling things, but I will say that's a perfectly valid strategy to force his hand

Sounds good. Just slightly confused because I'm the Mets and I made Backman my manager, so I figured I would have some pull over him, but I can't edit anything. I called up my top prospect since Wright went down and he playing other dudes over them I guess because their current rating is higher. I don't want to mange, but I also want to figure out a way to get my prospect some playing time.

I will always be a GM/manager & play out every game, so no worries here. but this^ makes me want to try a GM only setup.

the extent to which you guys go for realism in this game is simply amazing.

I'm playing through as GM-only, and I will say it's a lot of fun. Can be frustrating, and we will continue to look for ways that you can influence your manager's choices.

Would changing the depth charts work? I went to that screen and it allowed me to edit that.

Billy Beane gives this two thumbs up.

Nevermind this does not work. Just checked.

Some kind of feature where you can influence the Manager to play prospects is def something to look into. Great game either way.
