eweb_ActivateSerialNumber returned 0xE0000003 (ENGINE_INTERNAL_ERROR)

Pardon me if this has been address somewhere else, but, I keep getting an error message when I try to activate the game.

The message is:
eweb_ActivateSerialNumber returned 0xE0000003 (ENGINE_INTERNAL_ERROR)

I've tried re-installing, but I get the same message.
Has anyone else run into this problem?

Try to disable firewalls / anti-virus software for activation, that should help.

Although it's a bit tedious, offline activation should fix this. See here: How can I install the license for my OOTP Developments' game without an Internet connection?
