Monday, June 4, 1951 GREEN GIANTS STAND TALL IN NIRL SECOND DIVISION It definitely was not easy... but the Joliet Green Giants are now all alone in the top spot of the North Island Recreational League Second Division... to get there they had to come back from a 4-2 deficit in the bottom of the 10th against the last place Wafford Eagles... Joliet just barely beat out the worst team in the league 5-4 in 13 innings to climb ahead of the Avalon Oldtimers... Avalon fell the the fourth place Kinston Firebirds 5-2... in the other game Sunday afternoon third place Theodore topped fourth place West Chester 6-3. |
