My my brain isn't working tonight

Ok so here is the situation, the Brewers were leading the Cubs 5-1 going into the ninth, I put in my closer cause he needed some work and gave up two runs making the score 5-3 before closing out the game. Shouldn't he be credited with the save?

I believe the rule is 3 runs or less with no one on when he entered the game. You should be able to google the save rule.

The situation he entered the game counts and he had a 4-run lead so no save situation.

Thanks guys. I don't know why for some reason I kept telling myself he should have gotten the save since he gave up those two runs, pitching himself into a save situation.

If you had pulled your closer and put in a new pitcher, then that guy would have been in a save situation.

Also, a save situation can be one where there's a lead of more than 3 runs, as long as the guy at the plate represents the tying run.

I agree Brad but I think if the tying run is on deck it also qualifies.
