Welterweight bouts Jan 86

Aaron"Superman"Davis 0-0-0-0 vs Todd Robinson

Impressive debut by Davis, He is able to cut Robinson up but never really hurts him. Scores 40-36 across the board.

Glenwood Brown 0-0-0-0 vs Larry Lawrence 0-0-0-0

Brown didn't get a chance to impress as Lawrence injures his left hand on the first punch he lands 41 seconds into the bout and is unable to continue. A TKO 1 victory for Glenwood Brown.

#10 John H Stracey 19-0-0-19 vs #20 Johann Orsolics 19-0-0-17

Both Prime sluggers enter this bout in excellent shape. If you go buy the records someone is getting knocked out. And boy did someone. Orsolics was dropped with the first hook and is counted out 45 seconds into the fight. Medical staff entered the ring to check on Orsolics as there was no movement made by him. What an impressive victory for John H Stracey who looks forward to meeting the winner of tonights main event for the EBU Welterweight title if he's not fighting for a world title after this performance.

#1 Fujio Ozaki 28-0-0-25 vs #34 Jorge Vaca 15-0-0-15

Both men are in excellent shape for this 10 rounder. The pre prime Vaca will have his hands full with a prime Ozaki. Vaca has a big opening round as he wins most of the exchanges. Ozaki's left eye is already showing signs of swelling after 1 round. Pretty even second as both men have their moments. Another close round in the third, both men are warned for fouls and Ozaki's left eye continues to swell. Vaca comes out strong in the fourth and works his way inside and lands a hook that drops Ozaki flat on his back he tries to get to his feet but cannot make it. The number one welterweight in the world has just been thumped by a Jorge Vaca who is sure to jump in the rankings.

#9 Kirkland Laing 17-0-0-10 vs #26 Donato Paduano 21-0-2-2

Both Boxers are in excellent shape for this ten rounder. First is pretty much a feeling out round that Paduano wins with his jab. Second is a good round for Laing who is countering nicely. The third goes to Paduano as he is busier then Laing. The fans do not appreciate the technical boxing so far. Laing wins the fourth as Paduano isn't throwing any punches. Both men are taking turns doing nothing. Laing wins the fifth as he continues to out work Paduano, Laing is warned for low blows. The sixth is uneventful it follows the same script as the previous two rounds. Paduano finally opens up and has a great round, there is sweliing under Laings right eye as the round concludes. As the righth round begins Paduano looks the fresher of the two, pretty even eighth. Not alot to choose from in the ninth but I feel the edge goes to Paduano who used his jab nicely. Slow beginning to the tenth that Laing pulls out with a late round flurry. The score cards read 95-95 twice and 96-94 Paduano a majority draw.

#7 Colin Jones 21-0-0-19 vs #33 Bernie Terrell 17-0-0-10
For the EBU Welterweight Championship

Both Sluggers are prime and in great shape for this 12 rounder. Eventhough Jones is ranked higher Terrell is going off as a 3-2 favorite. All of England will be watching this one. Great opening round both men using their jab to set up their power punches close first round. Another good round Terrell pulls out with a late rally. The third is another very close round, Jones is warned for hitting with an open glove. Both fighters move to the inside in the fourth and Terrell has a big fourth landing the harder sharper punches. What a fifth both men stand toe to toe and slug it out another close round with no clear cut winner. Another great round as both men mix it up and Jones wins the round landing some big shots on Terrell. Terrell looks winded as the seventh begins but that doesn't stop him from winning the round. Terrell has another good round in the eighth Jones appears to be slowing down. The ninth is very close and both men are teeing off I don't believe no one has been hurt yet. Jones comes out looking for a KO in the tenth and lands some big shots but is unable to hurt Terrell but wins the round big. Neither man has been past the tenth round so this could get interesting. As the eleventh begins Jones is dropped for a quick two count. He rises and Terrell is unable to follow up Jones is actually landing some big punches as the bell sounds to end the round. An anticlimactic twelth round as Jones is just anable to get to Terrell who wins the round easily. The scores read 117-111, 118-112 and 118-110 for the winner and new EBU Welterweight Champion Bernie Terrell.

Wow! I love undefeated fighters taking a chance and fighting guys that can ruin that record.

Definately I knew someone was getting knocked out but didn't expect that quickly. Looking forward to Stacey taking on Bernie Terrell who knocked Colin Jones form the top 10 with his victory in the EBU WW Championship.

Thanks for following along

Jr Middleweight bouts Jan 86

"Terrible" Terry Norris 0-0-0-0 vs Vince Davis 0-0-0-0

Norris looks very impressive with a first round Knockout. A left right combo dropped Davis for a 10 count 1:56 in.

Gypsy Joe Harris 0-0-0-0 vs Vincent Holmes 0-6-0-0

Very workman like performance for Harris in his debut and wins easily Scores 40-37 across the board.

#5 Elisha Obed 17-0-0-16 vs #34 Miguel Angel Castellini 13-0-0-4

Both Pre Prime Sluggers look ready to go, Castellini is looking soft around the middle which isn't a good sign coming into this 8 rounder. Pretty good first round that Castellini may have edged. Castellini wins the second as Obed just can't seem to find his timing. Castellini is warned for low blows. Another round in the books for Castellini the slugger who is boxing beautifully. Obed is finally able to work on the inside in the fourth and drops Castellini with a right hook. Castellini rises at eight, Obed is trying to finish it even though he lands some big punches he is unable to stop Casrellini. Castellini's poor conditioning is evident as he seems to be laboring here in the fifth, but still shows will as they fight a pretty even round. In the sixth an Obed cross drops Castellini for a second time in the fight. Castellini rises at five and stays out of harms way. What should be a big round for Obed is marred when he is deducted a point for low blows on his first warning. Castellini is having a good seventh until Obed lands a vicious hook and Castellini is dropped again and again he rises at the count of three and again Obed can't capitalize on a hurt opponent. The tenth opens with the light hitting Castellini looking for a knockout. Castellini jumps on Obed early and rocks hiim with a brutal hook and another one drops Obed for an 8 count. Obed is on shakey legs and there is alot of time left in the round. Another Castellini hook drops Obed again and this time he is unable to beat the count. You have got to be kidding me what a come from behind victory for Castellini.

#4 Jae-Hyung Yuh 19-0-0-15 vs #19 Gary"The Iceman"Guiden 15-0-0-14

Both sluggers are in great shape. A Prime Yuh has the advantage over the pre prime Guiden going into this 8 rounder. The first is a feeling out round won by Yuh as he was the busier fighter. Guiden gets inside in the second and is caught by a wild overhand right and is counted out at 2:03 of the second round. Great win for Yuh and this victory should guarantee a title shot. Looks like Guiden stepped up in competition and appearantly was not ready.

#10 Ayub Kalule 19-0-0-14 vs #27 Rocky Mattioli 12-0-0-10

Two sluggers going at it in this 10 rounder, The pre prime Mattioli will definately have his hands full with a prime Kalule. Action packed first as both men land. Kalule edges the round with sharper punching. Big second for Kalule as he is landing rights and lefts and Mattioli just isn't getting off. Another big round points wise but Kalule has a point deducted for low blows, Mattioli is also warned for using his head. Kalule is having another good fourth when a low blow is ruled blatant and Kalule is disqualified. What a way to lose your first fight and almost certainly will drop him from the top 10.

#13 Walter Gomez 19-0-0-13 vs # 23 Maurice Hope 12-0-0-12

Both of these pre prime sluggers are in great shape as this 10 rounder is set to begin. This is to be Hope's coming out party. So much for coming out, he came out and got dropped for a three count. Hopefully the second is better for Hope. A closer second that Gomez edges with brilliant counter punching. What a third for Hope he lands some major bombs. Hell of a fourth. I think Hope edged it and if I'm right he is right back into this fight on the scorecards. Both men are trading in the fifth when a Hope hook drops Gomez for a 5 count, The bell rings as Gomez gets to his feet. Both men look tired as the sixth round begins and it is Gomez who takes advantage going right after Hope. A minute in Gomez lands a brutal uppercut that dropes Hope for an 8 count. Hope is being battered along the ropes as referree Dave Perris jumps in to save Hope. Impressive victory for Gomez here in the sixth and Hope has to be disappointed in this performance.

Middleweight bouts Jan 86

Kevin Finnegan 9-0-0-0 vs Jim Fuller 0-5-0-0

Good performance by Finnegan who runs his record to 10-0 score read 40-36 twice and 39-37.

Julio Cesar Vasquez 0-0-0-0 vs Alfonso Rubio 0-3-0-0

Thought it would be a quick night of work for Vasquez who dropped Rubio twenty seconds into the first. Rubio made it up and even fought Vasquez hard as the knockdown made the difference in the scoring 38-37 Vasquez on all three scorecards.

#11 Juan Roldan 17-1-0-15 vs #23 Michael Olajide 15-0-0-10

We have the Pre Prime slugger vs the Pre Prime boxer, both men are in great shape as this 8 rounder is set to begin. Olajide has a very good first round using his jab and following it with straight rights. In the second Roldan has a better round as he uses his jab to get close on Olajide and work the body. Olajide stands flat footed in the third which you would think is a mistake against Roldan but Olajide actually looks really good winning the round. The fourth is action packed as both men are trading with Roldan getting the better of it. In the fifth Olajide leaves a lazy jab out there and Roldan counters with a sizzling right hand that drops Olajide for a five count. Roldan tries to end it and may have punched himself out as both men look spent as the bell sounds to end the round. In the sixth Roldan comes out pasting Olajide and gets careless and is dropped by a counter right, he is right up at the count of two Olajide is going after Roldan when he headbutts Roldan and opens a cut above Roldan's right eye. The ref takes a point from Olajide. Both men are spent. Roldan bounces back nicely in the seventh as he outlands Olajide and wins the round easily. This has to be the round of the year. Roldan comes out strong and drops Olajide with a great one two combo, Olajide rises at five and is in bad trouble as there are over two minutes to go in the round. Roldan takes his time and catches Olajide again with an uppercut that drops Olajide for a 4 count. Olajide is up again and is in real trouble. This time Roldan goes for it and an Olajide counter right down the pipe drops Roldan who is counted out. What a finish. Round of the month, fight of the month, what a victory for Olajide. Roldan just sits in his corner dejected suffering his first loss since his second pro fight. I'm stunned

#12 Michael Nunn 19-0-0-14 vs #26 Doyle Baird 17-1-1-6

Pre Prime boxer vs the Pre Prime slugger. Both men are in excellent shape as this 8 rounder gets under way. Nunn wins the first with his classic boxing style. Nunn is warned for holding and hitting. Nunn comes out in the second and lands a vicious combonation and Baird is counted out at 2:03 of round two. Great win for Nunn.

#6 Jean-Claude Bouttier 24-0-0-18 vs #16 Mustafa Hamsho 15-0-0-14

Both Sluggers come into this fight in top shape for this 10 rounder. The Pre Prime Hamsho will have his hands full with the Prime Bouttier. No feeling out process in the first as Bouttier goes right after Hamsho and wins the round with some big shots. The second round is even and both men land some great punches, Bouttier seems to have hurt his right hand. The third is again pretty close no clear cut winner. In the fourth both men trade inside and land some impressive blows, both men are holding upto them pretty well. If I had to pick a winner probably Bouttier by a thin margin. The fifth is Bouttier's by a wide margin as Hamsho cannot land a punch. In the sixth Hamsho seems to be winning the round easy then Bouttier storms back with some brutal shots to pull even. First signs of fatigue are evident in the seventh as Bouttier seems to be winded and Hamsho has a good round even though it is again close. In the eighth Hamsho turns it up as he feels he may be behind and has his best round of the fight hitting Bouttier with everything he throws. Not much to choose from in the ninth as both men are tired, Edge to Bouttier. The tenth is Bouttier's easily. Both men show great chins in this one as both landed clean crisp punches and no one was even remotely hurt. To the scorecards 97-95 Bouttier...97-95 Hamsho and 97-95 for the winner by Split Decision Jean-Claude Bouttier!!!...I have no problem with the decision I felt Bouttier landed more and better punches. Hamsho tastes defeat for the first time.

#1 Anthony Jones 28-0-0-24 vs #23 Frank Tate 17-0-0-4

Both men are in top form. Jones the slugger is Prime, while Tate the boxer is pre prime. First round of ten about to get under way. Tate wins the first with clever boxing and Jones never really gets started. Jones has a good second round as Tate seems to defensive and throw very little punches. Tate has a great third as he opens up and just tattoos Jones with rights and lefts, Tate is warned for a low blow. The boxer Tate wins another round. Jones just seems slow as he is missing alot of punches. Jones comes out more determined in the fifth and Tate ducks right into an uppercut and drops like a sack of potatoes and is counted out at 1:11 of round five. Having power can change a fight on one punch and this fight proved it. Great knockout victory for Jones who was behind on all three scorecards.

Then after the first 2 months I'll match the top 15 personally. Some weights don't have a bunch of fighters like straweight or supper middle so no auto scheduling will be done for the lower contenders. And I'll be scheduling the title fights from March on The top eight will compete for the 4 titles. WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO. WBA and IBF will be 15 round fights and WBC and WBO will be twelve rounds. Regional title will aslo be 12 round fights. I'm sure that's more of an answer then you were looking for.

Super Middleweight Bouts Jan 86

Steve Collins 0-0-0-0 vs Scott Lang 1-4-0-0

Collins gets the win in his debut but it was nothing special pretty dull fight.

#28 Steve Little 13-2-1-0 vs #32 Marvin Mack 6-6-0-3

Pretty good scrap Little I thought won all but 1 round and of course one of the judges was watching another fight. Scores 58-57 Little, 58-57 Mack and 59-57 Little. Little with a split decision victory.

#15 Thulane Malinga 15-2-0-4 vs #28 Jesse Abrams 10-6-0-1

Both of these pre prime boxers are in great shape for this 8 rounder.Malinga wins the first which was pretty much a feeling out round. In the second Abrams moves to the outside and has a pretty good round eventhough its close. Malinga wins the third with crisp counters. Malinga is on his toes in the fourth and has a huge round just landing everything he throws. Abrams looks tired as the fifth round begins and Malinga has another good round boxing effectively from the outside. Malinga with another big round as he can't seem to miss. Another round in the books for Malinga. Abrams seems like he is just trying to survive. The final round is alot closer Abrams actually hurt Malinga with an uppercut. Malinga has a point deducted for a headbutt. Scorecards read 79-73 and 79-72 twice all in favor for the winner by unanimous decision Thulane Malinga

#8 Tony Thornton 18-0-0-12 vs #19 Sam Storey 19-1-0-2

In this match we have the pre prime slugger Thornton vs the pre prime boxer Storey. Both men are in great shape for this 10 rounder. Both men mix it up in the first and the edge goes to Thornton as he landed the heavier blows. The second is very slow and Storey wins it with his jab. The third is close but I think Thornton's pressure wins it for him. In the fourth Thornton is able to get inside and land a hard right that drops Storey for a 8 count. There was plenty of time left in the round but Thornton cannot capitalize on it. Storey rebounds well in the fifth as he easily wins the round with his jab and sharp counters. Storey has a big sixth round to make this fight close. For a fight that was off the boards betting wise Storey is giving a good account of himself. The seventh is very close as both men land some good punches. Both men look fatigued as the bell rings to start the eighth round. Thornton is having a huge round until he walks into an uppercut and is dropped for a quick one count, the bell rings to end the round as he rises. The ninth starts pretty slow but a minute in Thornton lands a shot to the liver and Storey drops to his hands and knees but is up at the count of three. again Thornton cannot capitalize on it. I'd hate to be a judge going into this last round. The tenth is dead even as both men stand and trade and with ten seconds left in the round a Storey hook drops Thornton for another one count. He jumps right back up and the bell rings to end the fight. I feel Storey deserves the decision. To the scorecards..94-92 Storey, 93-93 and 94-94 a majority draw. Should make for an interesting rematch.

#7 Graciano Rocchigiani 21-1-0-16 vs #16 Jorge Amparo 15-1-1-1

The prime Slugger Rocky and the pre prime boxer Amparo are in great shape for this 10 rounder. Rocky with a big first as he catches Amparo along the ropes. Rocky is warned for a low blow. Another round in the books for Garciano as Ampapro just isn't throwing enough punches. Rocky wins another round easily as again Amparo just isn't throwing. Rocky is warned for another low blow. If he don't watch it he may get himself disqualified. Rocky lands some big punches in the fourth and Amparo takes them but is now showing swelling under the right eye. The fifth is a slow round that goes to Rocky as Amparop did not land a punch. Thru five rounds Amparo has only landed 42 punches to Rocky's 167. The sixth is a bizaar round. Amparo is dropped by a left right combo he rises at the count of six, Rocky is pouring it on and headbutts Amparo and the headbutt opens a nasty gash above his right eye. Amparo is given a much needed rest as the doc is asked twice to examine the eye. The fight continues. Amparo has a better round seven but still not good enough to win the round. His right eye is swelling badly. As the eighth round begins a great jab busts open Amparo's cut and this time the doc calls a halt to the bout. the winner by TKO is Graciano Rocchigiani.

#11 Chris Eubank 17-1-0-3 vs #16 Christophe Tiozzo 20-1-1-12
EBU Super Middleweight Championship

The pre prime Eubank and the prime Tiozzo are in fantastic shape as this 12 rounder gets under way. What a start for Eubank as he drops Tiozzo with a left right combo early in the round. Tiozzo is up at two. I think he's embarrassed more then hurt and is able to get thru the rest of the round fine. Tiozzo has a better second round just edging Eubank. Eubank wins the third as Tiozzo just can't seem to get off. Eubank wins another as Tiozzo looks to be to slow for the slick boxer. The fifth is just like the fourth Tiozzo is to slow and Eubank is just beating Tiozzo to the punch. What a sixth both men trade at close quarters and there is no clear cut winner that round. The seventh is another close round. Tiozzo looks exhausted as the round closes. Eubank with a big round again as Tiozzo just isn't getting off. Tiozzo is finally able to get to Eubank in the ninth rocking him with a vicious right hook. Eubank's left eye is showing swelling as the round closes. The tenth is very slow with the edge to Eubank. First time either man has been passed the tenth and Tiozzo gets the better of it. Tiozzo easily wins the twelth as Eubank is content to cover up. To the scorecards 116-112, 115-113 and 115-112 for the winner by unanimous decision and new EBU Super Middleweight Champion Chris Eubank

Light Heavyweight Bouts Jan 86

Jeff Harding 0-0-0-0 vs Marcus Chaffe 0-4-0-0

Started well for Harding who dropped Chaffe twice in the first then struggled losing the next three rounds to come away with a draw in his debut pretty disappointing showing.

Dingaan Thobela 0-0-0-0 vs Solange Zilho 1-3-1-0

Great debut by Thobela winning easily even dropped Zilho in the third. Scores were 38-37 twice I have no ideas what fight they were watching last judge had it right 40-35 all for Thobela

#5 Michael Spinks 20-0-0-19 va # 31 Virgil Hill 12-0-0-6

Both pre prime boxers are in excellent shape for this 10 rounder. Hill really taking a big step up in competition taking on Spinks. Great opening round for Spinks as he tattoos Hill with some bombs. Close second round that Hill edges with his jab. Another close round that Spinks punctuates with a solid cross. A slower round in the fourth that Hill edges as Spinks wasn't busy enough.Spinks wins the fifth as the pace is definately slowing. The sixth is slower then the fifth but Hill's jab is enough to take it. The seventh was going slow as well until a well placed hook dropped Hill for a six count 2:50 into the round Hill rises and the bell sounds ending the round. Hill comes out like a man possesed in the eighth and has a huge round. There is major swelling over Spinks left eye as the round concludes. Hill has another good round in the ninth as Spinks seems to be tiring this fight can be very close on the scorecards as we go to the tenth and final round. Both men come out strong in the tenth and tee off on eachother with Spinks getting the better of it with hard clean punches. to the scorecards we go. 95-94 Spinks...95-94 Hill and 98-94 for the winner by split decision and still undefeated Michael Spinks. How the final judge only gave two rounds to Hill is beyond me.

#8 Marvin Johnson 19-0-0-16 vs #24 Leo Kakolewicz 14-0-0-11

Both sluggers are in great shape for this 10 rounder. The pre prime Kakolewicz will have his hands full with a prime Johnson. Johnson is a beast he comes out and tears into Kakolewicz and lands lefts and rights and drops Kakolewicz with a solid hook and Kakolewicz is counted at 2:56 of the first. Punch totals Johnson 64, Kakolewicz 0. Johnson's accuracy 100% now that's domination.

#7 Jim MacDonald 21-1-1-17 vs #32 Don LaLonde 19-1-0-18

Both of these prime sluggers are in great shape for this 10 rounder. Lalonde has a big opening round as MacDonald tastes LaLonde's power and is dropped by an uppercut. MacDonald rises at eight and stays away for the rest of the round. Close second as LaLonde is just a bit quicker then MacDonald. Great action round in the third as LaLonde is landing more punches but MacDonald's are definately the harder shots. What a fourth both men are taking turns pasting eachother when a MacDonald right drops LaLonde for a three count. I knew defense would go out the window in this one. LaLonde bounces back in the fifth but MacDonald still wins the round with his hard punches. The sixth is another round were both men just tee off landing hard clean punches. Edge to MacDonald. The seventh starts like the sixth both men trading and a LaLonde right gets MacDonald in bad trouble. LaLonde goes to work and is landing some pretty damaging blows when the ref jumps in to stop it. Great Fight winner by TKO in the seventh Donnie LaLonde.

#9 Bunny Johnson 16-0-0-12 vs #34 Ricky Womack 17-1-2-9

The pre prime slugger Johnson is in great shape while the prime boxer Womack doesn't even look like he wants to fight. This bout is scheduled for 10 rounds. So much for not wanting to fight, Womack pummels Johnson in the first landing some great combos. Womack has another good round as Johnson just isn't punching. Another round for Womack. Johnson seems like he's not in the fight he better turn it around if he doesn't want to drop out of the top ten. First round of the fight Johnson fights and wins. Womack is back in control just tattooing Johnson in the fifth. Johnson's leg's look unsteady as the sixth begins and again he is out worked by Womack who wins another round. It is Womack who now looks tired as the seventh begins an Johnson takes advantage winning the round. Johnson would win rounds if he just punched more. Johnson has another good round as he is looking for a KO as he knows he's trailing. Womack wins the ninth as again Johnson just isn't throwing punches. Not much to choose from in the tenth but I feel Womack wins it with the jab. To the scorecards. 97-93 twice and 97-92 all for the winner by unanimous decision Ricky Womack. Not sure what was wrong with Johnson but he was outlanded 220-124. Maybe it was fighting outside of his home country for the first time. Great win for Womack

Always loved Colin Jones, tough loss for him.....that kind of takes him out of World title contention for a while doesn't it?

After the loss he dropped to 21st in the rankings. He's definately out of the initial title fights but with a victory or two he should be right back in the mix. I have to admit I never heard of Bernie Terrell prior to this fight but he is actually rated better and was favored in the betting odds.

Cruiserweight Bouts Jan 86

Orlin Norris 0-0-0-0 vs Denny Bowman 0-5-0-0

Norris looks imprpessive droping Bowman twice in the first then for a full ten count in the second.

Johnny Nelson 0-0-0-0 vs Nicky Mullock 0-6-0-0

Nelson struggles in the first but wins the final three rounds. Scores 39-37 twice and 38-38(Can't figure this one out)

#4 Steve Aczel 29-1-0-24 vs #28 Anthony Davis 12-1-1-1

A prime Aczel is in great shape the same cannot be said about the pre prime Davis who looks badly out of shape for this 10 rounder. Big opening round for Aczel as he is able to hurt Davis late in the round but there is not enough time to do further damage. Aczel picks up where he left off in the second, he storms out and drops Davis for a three count. Davis is on the ropes when a right cross drops him for a second time this time he takes a seven count. Aczel is landing hard shots along the ropes as the ref jumps in to save Davis from further punishment. Great 30th win for Aczel.

#10 Sammy Reeson 18-0-0-5 vs #27 John Odhiambo 11-0-0-3

The pre prime Odhiambo and the prime slugger Reeson are both in great shape for this 10 rounder. Close first round as both men are able to land some nice punches. Odhiambo has a great second round as he apears alot quicker then Reeson. The third is another close round that Reeson edges as he is able to get to Odhiambo with some nice combos.Another close round edged by Reeson with his power punches. Odhiambo has a bad gash over the right eye caused by a powerful left. The doc examined it and allowed the fight to continue. Early in the fifth a Reeson left right combo opens the gash above Odhiambo's right eye and the doc calls a halt to the bout at 55 seconds of the fifth.

#9 Ossie Ocasio 20-0-3-3 vs #34 Michael Greer 18-1-1-12

The prime boxer Ocasio and the pre prime slugger Greer are in great shape for this 10 rounder. Close first round with alot of action. Both fighters have bad news in the first Greer is cut over the left eye and Ocasio seems to have injured his right hand. Another close round as both men are tentative and not really letting go with their punches. Very slow third round, blood is visable again from the cut above Greer's left eye. For the first time there is a clear cut winner of a round. Greer is able to land some nice shots and Ocasio was content to not punch in the fourth. Ocasio opens up in the fifth and pays for it as Greer has another good round landing some big punches on the chin of Ocasio. Ocasio has a good sixth as Greer seems to be tiring. Ocasio has another good round as he is able to counter Greer's slower punches. An Ocasio right reopens the cut and for the first time the ringside physician takes a look and allows the fight to continue. Ocasio drops Greer very early in the round with a hook but may have punched himself out as Greer fights back strongly as the round closes. 15 seconds into round nine an Ocasio right busts Greer open again and this time the blood is flowing heavily. The doc and Fields discuss it and it's over referree Fields stops the fight at 28 seconds of the ninth round. Cutman Don Turner was able to keep Greer in the fight for a while but as Greer got fatigued the fight started to turn. Would have liked to have seen this one play out. The scores were 76-76 on two of the cards and Ocasio was up 78-76 on the other how Tony Perez only scored two rounds for Greer is beyond me. An investigation maybe in order as the Puerto Rican judge had the Puerto Rican fighter up by two. Great win for Ocasio and Greer has nothing to be ashamed of.

#12 Dwight Qawi 16-0-1-13 va #25 Jeff Lampkin 17-1-0-16

The prime slugger Lampkin will have his hands full with the pre prime slugging Qawi. Both fighters are in shape for this 10 rounder. Lampkin starts quickley in the first landing some big shots and Qawi already has swelling showing under the left eye.Qawi's hands are low as the second round begins but he is still able to trade with Lampkin in a very close round. Qawi has a great third as he is able to get inside on Lampkin and land some heavy shots. Both men go inside in the fourth and the edge goes to Qawi but the left eye is getting really nasty. Another good round for Qawi as again both men mix it up inside. Lampkin may do better if he stays outside, Qawi is an animal on the inside. Lampkin looks tired in the sixth Lampkin has a big sixth as he is able to land some heavy blows on the advancing Qawi. Lampkin was having another big round when he is rattled by a Qawi right hook. Qawi goes for it but cannot hurt Lampkin further. The swelling is really becoming a problem for Qawi. Qawi's hands are low again as the round begins and Lampkin takes full advantage and lands some heavy shots. Qawi is dropped with a brutal right he rises and three and survives the round. Big round for Lampkin. Qawi is having a great ninth when inexplicably the ref Santore deducts a point for a shot that was clearly not low. Qawi comes out like a man on fire in the tenth and hurts Lampkin with a right uppercut and Lampkin is forced to cover up. Big tenth for Qawi. To the scorecards. 96-93 twice and 95-94 all for the winner by unanimous decision Dwight Qawi. Great fight.

Heavyweight bouts Jan 86

Mel Turnbow 0-0-0-0 va Adam Carpenter 0-5-1-0

Had a great first two rounds and is dropped by a single shot and counted out in the third.

Tony Ventura 6-2-1-4 vs Larry Holmes 9-0-0-9

Ventura and Holmes slug it out in the first and Ventura gets the best of it. Holmes fights from the outside in the second and tees off on Ventura. Holmes goes right after Ventura in the third and is landing some big shots when a right hook drops Ventura for a 10 count.

#2 Buster Douglas 25-0-0-21 vs #24 Leon Spinks 15-0-0-11

The prime boxing Douglas and the pre prime slugging Spinks are both in great shape for this 10 rounder. Both fighters are tentative in the first edge to Spinks. Spinks comes out to slug in the second and Douglas counters with a perfect right hook and drops Spinks for a ten count. Impressive win for Douglas.

#14 Greg Page 17-0-0-12 vs #32 John Tate 14-1-0-12

The prime boxer Page is in great shape as the pre prime slugging Tate took this fight on short notice and may not be in the best shape for this 8 rounder. Page with a great first round, using the jab effectively. Tate with a good second round as he is able to get to Page on the inside. Page has a huge third as he hurts Tate with a straight right. Tate tries to go inside in the fourth and he pays for it when a Page hook drops Tate for a quick three count. He rises and Page methodically goes after Tate and lands some clean shots that causes referee Wayne Kelly to jump in and stop the fight. Tate suffers his first defeat since a DQ loss back in his third fight. Great win for Page.

#11 Piermario Baruzzi 24-4-1-22 vs #25 Joe Frazier 14-0-0-14

The prime slugging Baruzzi and the pre prime slugging Frazier are both in great shape for this 10 rounder. A big step up in competition for Frazier but with three of Baruzzi's four losses coming by way of KO Frazier's hopes are high, but Frazier can't get careless as Baruzzi has 22 KO's in 24 victories. Frazier with a good first as he lands heavy blows. Baruzzi wins the second with clean counters. Baruzzi with another good round as he effectively goes to the head and body of Frazier. Both men move inside in the fourth and this style benefits Frazier. Frazier with a good fifth as he out punches Baruzzi on the inside. Both men trade heavy leather in the sixth and the advantage goes to Baruzzi. Baruzzi looks tired as the round comes to an end. Both men are trading again in the seventh and Frazier is finally able to dent Baruzzi's armor as he drops Baruzzi for a six count late in the round. Both men are carrying their hands low as the eighth begins and both men tee off landing some really hard and clean blows. Edge to Baruzzi. Baruzzi is appearing tougher then Joe may have thought. The ninth starts with Baruzzi walking into a hook and is dropped for an eight count. Frazier turns it up and is landing some clean shots when another right uppercut drops Baruzzi for a two count. The bell sounds as Baruzzi gets to his feet. Early in the tenth Frazier drops Baruzzi with a right hook. Baruzzi is up at six. Frazier presses forward and drops Baruzzi with another uppercut Baruzzi is up at five but this time Benji Esteves waves it off. TKO 10 for Frazier Baruzzi show's tremendous heart in this one.

#7 Mike Tyson 17-0-0-17 vs #20 Jimmy Abbott 16-0-2-11

The pre prime slugging Tyson and the pre prime boxer Abbott are in great condition for this 10 rounder. Tyson starts quickly bobbing and weaving his way inside and hurts Abbott badly late in the round. Abbott is able to cover up and survive the round. Another good round as Tyson continues to bob and weave his way inside using the jab and landing some great body shots. In third Abbott amazingly stands and trades with Tyson and has a decent round but not enough to win it. Abbott has swelling under his right eye. Tyson starts quickly and is able to drop Abbott with a right cross. Abbott is up at five and is able to stay out of harms way for the remainder of the round. Tyson wins another as Abbott is not willing to trade with Tyson. Tyson has a huge sixth as he drops Abbott twice for a two count and a one count. Why Abbott doesn't take the full eight is beyond me. Another round for Tyson. They should consider stopping this fight as Abbott is taking a horrendous beating. Abbott is dropped again in the eighth by a vicious uppercut. Amazingly Abbott is up at two and ready to fight. Tyson is landing heavy shots when Referee Kelly finally jumps in to save Abbott from further punishment. Impressive showing by Tyson who moves to 18-0-0-18.

Fight of the Month

Michael Olajide WKO10 Juan Roldan

I'm stunned

Fighter of the Month

Bernie Terrell
19-0-0-10

The young Southpaw from Edmonton, England burst onto the scene this month with an incredible victory over the highly ranked Colin Jones who came into the bout with a perfect record of 21-0-0-19 and ranked number seven in the world to capture the EBU Welterweight Championship. Terrell was not intimidated and went out and performed masterfully. Terrell showed a great chin during this bout and was never hurt, despite taking some clean shots form Jones. Terrell even showed a little power dropping Jones in the eleventh round. When asked who he wishes to face next "I'd love to defend my European title vs fellow Englishman John H Stracey". "I've beaten the number seven man in the world I would now like the number four". With Stracey winning on the undercard he has lined himself up for one of the title matches so I'm not sure he will put that off to face Terrell but if he does Terrell plans to stay busy and fight again in March

Real Life History: Terrell was stopped in two rounds by Stracey in the last fight of his career. Can't wait to much these two up.

Huge win for Vaca. How did the #1 fighter in the world get matched up with a guy outside the top 25?

For the first two months I'm auto scheduling the top fifteen vs the 16 thru in some cases the 35th contender to weed out guys who may have done good against the TC's in the history build up but really aren't top level fighters and this weeds them out but ocassionally they still win. After the first two months I will then manually schedule the top 15 guys. In some cases where there are not alot of real fighters Starwweight for example I'll start scedhuling their fights manually for February. Which should be up today. There will be 2 World title fights and one regional title fight on the card.

Again thanks for following along
