Playoff performers
Generally a player in the post season is basically the same player they were in the regular season (generally slightly weaker as a batter due to better pitching)
But there are exceptions. Reggie Jackson and David Ortiz would come up time and again in big games, while recently Clayton Kershaw just does not seem to be the same pitcher in the playoffs.
I thought it would be fun to have a small add in where a few players, maybe 5% of players could have an unseen (unless in comish mode) where they might be a clutch player (20% ratings boost for playoff games) or a bust player (-20% ratings for playoff games). That is still not a major shift, a good player can still be good...but it can mean that 265 hitter can be that guy year after year.
So you need a new 2b. do you go for the guy that will hit 280 in the regular season and be a 265 hitter (no change playoff guy) or go sign the guy that will give you the weaker regular season, but maybe hit 320 in the playoffs.
Right now all playoff results are coming from the same set of ratings stats. a 128 contact and 144 power hitter will be that all year. It would be fun to see a few in the playoff become 140 and 160, while a few others become 108 and 120...but we never know under the hood.
Did our guy just have a bad luck of the playoff small sample size, or does he really tense up in the playoff and will always lost 20% of his ratings.
Just another thing real GMs and baseball teams go through in the playoff and deciding rosters and signings and whatnot
